Howdy,
New Imate PDAL running Win Mob 5 is not reliable syncing with Outlook 2003 on my notebook pc, even after upgrading to Activesync 4.5. Sometimes won't connect, sometimes connects but won't sync.

Previous Imate Jam (Win Mob 2003) worked perfect. Fook.

Tried lots of variations, including disabling wifi adaptor to see if there is a clash, it will sync once but next time it says it can't connect, or gets stuck on "checking for changes" step. IT wallah can't find a solution. Will sync fine on his desktop pc.

The thing synchs on USB by network connection (tcp/ip?) and I fear there is some conflict.

Has anyone a few ideas, please?

Thanks

Bin

It's probably a firewall issue. I think the WinMob5 stuff uses its comms in a different way to WinMob3 and causes all sorts of such hassles.

I had the same thing with my WinMob5. Unfortunately, I cant remember what I did to get rid of it, but I do remember looking on here for the answer:

I run Mobile 5 but sync with Mac OS X so I can't compare my own setup. However I think Tobers is right about it sounding like a firewall issue.

I would...

1. Delete your current partnership
2. Uninstall ActiveSync
3. Disable your firewall
4. Reinstall ActiveSync and create a new partnership
5. Reconfigure your firewall.

Good luck

Hi,
Thanks for replies.
Fookin thing works sometimes, not at other times.
Deleted and reinstalled everything, confirmed firewall is not the trouble afaik.
Thought it was a wifi conflict, but it does work with wifi enabled, just not every time.
I think it is something erratic in the way it gets a network address from the PC.
I wonder if I can upgrade to Windows 6 ?
God help us all.
