I've got the new GSA and at 6'2" find the buffeting and wind roar at anything over 50 mph very annoying. At 70 mph I can't hear anything through my headset. With cruise control on I tried forming a temporary barrier with my hands on top of the windscreen and it worked perfectly. Does anyone know why Touratech don't make a windscreen extention like they did for the older GSA or whether anyone else does? Also I see that both BMW and Touratech make taller screens but has anyone tried them out yet. I'm loathe to spend a load of dosh on a new windsreen only to find that it's a marginal improvement. Thanks.

I have fitted one of these to my bike http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/muH0H7IZMye0wl_NeVDOYwQ.jpg

Although I am only 5' 10' I found my LC GS noisy. Works a treat for me :aidan

That looks suspiciously like a Laminar Lip, Dario. http://shop.heroblobs.co.uk/collections/bmw-r1200gs/products/laminar-lip-for-bmw-r1200gs-2013-on

I've still got one that I picked up from their workshop in Santa Ana, Orange County CA, fitted to an old 1200 screen. They're good guys (great discounts for cash at the workshop... :D)

Hi

I'm awaiting delivery of my GSA in early May. I've opted for the taller tinted screen. I'm the same height as you, so if you can wait I'll let you know what it's like.

Bill

Buffetting is not necessarily a sign of the screen being too short, but rather that the airflow needs to be adjusted to produce clean air around your head. Tobinators on the 1150 solved this issue - putting a bigger or higher screen on made little difference for most users (in fact removing the screen gave better results)...

I'm hoping ztechnik will produce one, my current GSA has one and it is superb, thinking about swapping to a LC GSA but want it with a taller screen!

I'll also be interested to hear how you get on, I've got the same issue as the OP, I'm 6'3". I've tried angling the screen further forward but it hasn't made any real difference.

Touratech clip on.

Yes agree, was hoping the GSA screen would be an improvement over the GS one, after test riding the GSA was surprised the bigger screen was no real improvement.
Mines fitted with this took it off my Tiger XC (it's a Touratech one for a Trans alp) big improvement for me except for its looks & having to look at an ugly clamp!

I suspect that the new GSA screen is too flexible for use with one of those clamp extenders

I'm 6'0" and have a Wunderlich Marathon screen with the supporting bracket on my LC. Took it out for the first time today and must say, visor open with sunglasses on, no problem at 80+ mph.

Screen summary

Thanks to everyone for their comments and advice. It would appear there are two routes to go down: a new screen or an extension.
New screens available that I can find are
1) BMW taller screen - £? – No reviews yet but Billwright has one coming in May
2) Touratech taller screen - £205.00 - No reviews yet
3) Wunderlich Marathon - £179.00 1 recommendation from x5ram
4) Puig Windscreen - £92.90 - No reviews
5) Givi Highflow screen - £99.00 - No reviews
Extensions
1) Wunderlich universal screen extension (Product Code: 20280-002) £78.00 - No reviews
2) Laminar Lip - £70.50 – Recommended by Dario
3) MRA –X-Creen – Touring – Euro 89.00 plus postage etc and maybe plus adjustable bracket at Euro 20 (but my German is a bit rusty) – 1 recommendation from Paul S
4) Puig Clip on £76.46 – No reviews
5) Touratech extension (for 2013 GS) - £102.44 – DaveTez gives a conditional thumbs up
There are other brands advertising but it’s not clear whether they are for the 2014 GSA or older models and I also don’t know if the water cooled GS and GSA have the same screen size.
If anyone can add to either the list or the comments I would be most grateful.

Good work. HPS are the UK distributor for MRA and they list two screens for the 2014 bike:

MRA's own site (in German, so I'm guessing that's where you got your info) seem to list four screens, and two extensions:

I've ordered a white gsa with a tinted tall screen and that arrives next week, but the bike l tested at vines Guildford had a tinted tall screen fitted and at 5'11 l don't have any issues with it set to the tallest setting.

The other question is, what setting is the seat set to? As l have tried a lc gs with the seat on both setting and found it nicer on the lower seat setting and the screen on the tallest setting

Good point. I have the seat on high as I prefer the visibility better however I will give it a go on low and see if it helps. Thanks
