I received my winglets today. I saw that more UKGSer F800GS riders have them mounted on their bikes.
Question - did You mount them as discribed, because if You do so, they don't connect directly to the original screen.

Do You really have to drill holes in the original fearing?

Other Q. - how they work in practice?

Thx and regards,

Rob

Rob ...

Yes, follow the mounting instructions and you'll be ok - if I recall correctly I ditched one pair of the 'well-nuts' in favour of a conventional nut bolt and washer as I didn't think there was enough material on the panel to support the winglet properly.

They don't connect to the original screen at all...

I managed to break one of mine a while ago so had to take the other one off - they certainly work!

Greg

Yes you need to drill holes.

Just like Greggers, had them on but need to adjust were they mount as the curved part also interferes with my Large givi touring screen.

I intend to cut the angle out of the front of my winglets asp.

Yes they work keeping wind off your sides.

Just bought a 09 800 and it has winglets already fitted with the standard screen.

I have just ordered a Givi screen so are you saying that it will not fit without cutting the winglets.

Gary.

+ 1 for the winglets, had them for over a year now. They cut the turbulence down when on the motorway, well, for me anyway. Personally think they were a good buy. I used a spade drill bit to install my pair. Good luck :beerjug:

Not with the Givi-high screen bud, the screen is far more important anyway. Don't really like gripping onto a bike, prefer riding..although my latest youtube contribution isn't crusing]

I've fitted them today, not a real problem. Did some riding at max. 100km/h and it really works. It's not even cold now, think they are very usefull then.

Have to get used to the new look, but this type of bike can have it!

Cheers,

Rob

I have a question about these winglets from nippy normans? Is the gauge of plastic thinner compared to the BMW ones? By much?

Cheers

So is anyone going to answer my question? Are the nippy normans winglets thinner plastic than std?

Cheers

Dont know what the thickness of the 1200ADV is but the ones I brought from NN is 3mm, hope this helps.

You're right - should have answered your q.

Yes they are smaller - it's 3 mm. So be carefull with tightening - I see (a very small) crack with one (allready) drilled hole.

Cheers,

Rob
