OK this is the story.

I have two winter bike jackets, one is BMW bought second hand, slightly large. The cuffs are elasticated and open easily to allow my goretex gloves to fit.

other jacket is a Hein gericke, better fit,but the cuffs are crap, trying to fit my goretex gloves into the sleeves is a pain, as the cuffs don't open far enough.

I've just been to Hein gericke to see if they have any winter gloves that fit easily in the cuffs, they didn't! Well some did, but they were just Goretex, and didn't mention things like "thinsulate" so seemed more like waterproof summer gloves.

I may have to end up by buying some type of muffs! Incidentally I have the muffs on the GS, but my other bike is a Yamaha Divvy 900.

Any thoughts, suggestions out there?

Went through exactly the same thing a few weeks ago. I can't stand long, gauntlet style gloves as it seems to make sense to put the cuff over the glove so water runs off, tile like. I have never understood why winter gloves go half way up your arm. Eventually I bought some RST (I hadn't heard of them before) plain black gloves from Bill Smiths in Chester. They are warm lined but don't have goretex and are short/ slim enough to fit under cuffs very easily. However, they are leather and I treated them several times before use to get them as waterproof as possible. I'm a bit sceptical about goretex and similar stuff as the outside layer can get very wet, so although, admittedly, you should stay dry (probably), the gloves (or whatever) can get sodden, heavy and cold. With unvented (Nikwax or similar) treated leather, the water doesn't penetrate in the first place (for a while at least). The RST gloves are a broad finger fit i.e. roomy so I don't seem to get "white finger" problems which I do from tighter fit gloves. The protection is no better than O.K. but I wear these in preference to several other much more expensive pairs I have that don't work as well for me. (They cost £29.99)

Been thinking about getting some of Racer Pluvio, it has two cuffs, a small one for inside and a bigger one for outside.

Rukka jacket, surplus NI gloves and Tucano muffs - plus heated grips of course! Absolutely spot-on. :bounce1

I've got a pair of these as well, very effective, but the camo's too good. Sometimes can't find the ends of me arms.....

They arrived today at work. Longer than I thought they would be:blast Come half way up my arms, but riding home in the dry,my hands were warmer than normal, considering I was wearing my summer gloves.

See what happens when it rains. No sizing was mentioned on the website, these are medium which easily take my summer gloves. They would be hard to fit under the cuffs, but are so long that water penetration down to my summer gloves, hopefully will not happen.

Not quite as good value but in black goretex paclite material

Extremities Tuff Bags - Goretex Paclite Overmitts RRP £35

I have had a pair of these for a few years now and they fit over a variety of gloves/mitts. When using them on the motorbike they fit great over a pair of armoured summer gloves. The glove fits snugly inside the mitt so when I take off the mitt the glove comes off with it which is handy. The One-Handed Drawcord Pull makes them easy to pull tight. Not had any problems with water leaks through the material or down the inside of the mitt cuff. Take up very little room in panniers as well.

I have a twat jacket, HG gloves and muffs. The gloves fit under the cuffs really nicely and the muffs are the dog's doo-dahs because last winter I only needed to use my heated grips a couple of times and I never get wet hands. I have had to cut out some of the fluffy stuff inside the muffs though because it fouled the gloves too much. Overall I'm really pleased with the combination. The glove/cuff issue was the main reason I bought the jacket because all the others I tried were too tight.
