Winter Protection Advice

Some recommendations if any of you have any

What the most effective thing you’ve found to protect your bike from corrosion in the winter (apart from not riding it which isn’t an option for me). I’ve used wax oil applied carefully by hand with a rag for a long time but it’s hard to put on right and even more messy to get off. Really works well though and stays put. Bike looks filthy at the end of the winter but still gleaming when you take it off.

The only thing i've had done to the Bike was a Ceramic Coating. It was only a light coat as i was trying it out to see how good it was before committing to a more expensive 3 year option - and it did a good job. Most dirt & grime washed off with very little scrubbing needed.

Recently i've started to use ACF50 to see how that bears up. So far it seems to give similar protection levels - in that dirt washes off fairly easy, the parts underneath seem to keep their shine well & it doesn't take too long to achieve this. I tend to wash the Bike every 4-6 weeks or so, and applying ACF50 after each one to keep it topped up & protected.

I'll see post Winter how it has faired, and what the condition of the Bike is like.

XCP Rust blocker there's also XCP clear which isn't as durable but less noticable

+1 for ACF50. If you have access to a compressor you can apply it as a mist with a spray gun. This ensures it gets into every nook and cranny on the bike. If not, you can apply it with a paint brush and then wipe down with a cloth. Can be applied everywhere except brake discs, calipers and tyres. If applying manually, buy the aerosol and spray onto cloth or brush. Spraying directly from the can results in too thick a layer being applied.

Best stuff I ever used was Boeshield T9 but it’s hellishly expensive.

I have used ACF50 but found it messy to apply as it is quite gloopy. This winter I’ve been using Muc Off motorcycle protector & it seems ok. Easy to apply from an aerosol & not as messy. Cheaper than ACF too.
