My bike is on seasonal insurance which means I won't be allowed on the road until March 08.

I used to always go for a quick spin during the winter months to keep things ticking over but that's out of the question now.

I thought about gving the battery a charge once in a while (Ive the BM one 100Euro I know ) and then maybe letting it tick over once in a while but this maybe isn't such a good thing as there'd be no air flow.

Can I just leave the motor for the next 3mths without starting it? :nenau

Any advise much appreciated. :thumb2

Take the battery off the bike and store it some where warm, charging it occasionally.

If it's on the main stand you won't have any problems, although theoreticaly you could spin the wheels from time to time.

I used to block off the intake and exhausts on fleets of boats which were stored on land to prevent moisture entering the engine. If you start the engine without running it to full temperature you will cause condensation to remain.
I used to remove plugs/injectors and squirt oil into the bores then turn the engine over but it's not strictly necessary.

3 months will be fine, most brand new bikes will stand for a lot longer than that before being sold and started.

Make sure you fully charge the battery before storage, or you could have problems with sulphation. Also don't put it anywhere too warm, best is shed / garage I think optimum temp for storage is around 10degC.

Everything else will be fine for 3 months.

Keep both tyres off the ground, if you're not going to get the engine & exhaust system up to working temprature, don't f*ck with it ......:rob

Probably too late, but best put away after a good thrashing.
As said previously, on mainstand, block off Silencer & air intake.
Best to fill tank with petrol & add some petrol preservative, to stop it going off. Reason for filling the tank (so I've read!) is to reduce potential for condensation forming in the tank.
Spray it with WD40.
Buy totally unnecessary parts for it over the next few months.:augie

spray all the metal work with wd40 and wipe lighlty then in march give it a wipe clean it'll stop any corrosion in its tracks over the winter

Thanks for all your help guys :thumb

Just completed all the essentials.

Now I need to think of what accessories to buy over the next few months :blast
