Swapped from Michelin Street Polit to Conti TKC few months back. Conti is not my cup of tea, I was planning a bit of green laning and off roading but gone off the idea.
TKC nearly worn out so looking for a decent winter trye that can copy with Shropshire A and B roads.

Any suggestions?

If you do a search, There are loads of threads regarding tyres for the 1200GS..

Personally I can recommend Bridgestone Battlewings. They seem to warm up quite quick (unlike Conti's), and offer decent grip on cold wet roads.

Mind you, i've been using Metzler Karoo2's for the last 2k miles, and for off road biased Knobblies they have really impressed me with there abilities on wet tarmac.

Battlewings...
Tourances.....
Conti TrailAttacks......
had them all, would have all of them again, cope very well with Norwegian gravel roads so even cold UK tarmac shoudn't be an issue...

go for which ever you prefer, tyre choice is a very personal thing, but I know where oyu are coming from with the TKC's, couldn't wait to get them off, horrid things:blagblah

Glad somebody else did not like them!

Winter tyres

I had some Heidenau K60 M+S Snowtex ordered from here http://www.mynetmoto.com . They are supposed to be 'winter tyres' and have a compound that is designed for cold roads but still out of stock till Feb. Tourances were shot so went for TKC's on Saturday. Love the mileages on old Tourances but thought I'd try to Conti's for winter.:nenau
The weather is supposed to go downhill fast towards the end of the week so we will see how we get on:eek::eek::eek::blast

Winter tyres - Summer tyres?

Same tyres.

:beerjug:

Perhaps that is ok in the UK, but not in Norway;
the rubber get hard in the cold, so you get a better grip with a soft winter tyre, specially on ice and snow.

-But you knew that, right? I just want to make sure all know... :angel

:) Liv.

I was very impressed with the Anakee 2's last winter.

As this video will attest to...

Bit off topic i know, but how is the camera mounted and what is the camera model, nice quality :)

I switched to these 6,00 miles agio and could not fault them. Not as good as TKCs when the going gets gnarly, but on the road they are great. Cheaper than Michelin/Bridgestone/Continental, and also now available from Every Accessory, IIRC?

Try searching on Heidenau in the 1200 GS section. There are a few threads relating to them, and in the Vendors a thread from Every Accessory - I think.

In this week's comic:

Tyres

The simple truth is that any modern tyre is good in the wet and in the dry. Some people will swear by one tyre, whist others will swear at the same tyre.

Me, on my 1200GSA? Michelin Anakee, inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure, seem to have done OK over the past 40k+ miles. If it ain't broke, I can't be bothered to fix it.

Glad somebody else did not like them!

I found the TKC where great in the Spring, Summer and Autumn, wet or dry but once it started to get cold they never really gave me much confidence. The GSA looks great with them on, but that doesnt count for much if you can't find the grip you want ;)

Funners is right, its all personal choice - I was running a mix of TKC and Tourances, now I'm just on Tourances and I've got a couple of trail bikes for the off-road stuff, though the Tourance is pretty capable.
