Has anyone resorted to drilling a hole in the side of the sat-nav mount to get to the audio socket to hook up to the audio output?

Did it work satisfactorily?

I have found through experience that in ear bud type ear phones give me the most satisfactory result (6 years of Zumo 550 use) and that is what I'd like to achieve with the Navigator IV.

I understood that there was an audio out from the sat nav mount incorporated in the cabling associated with the mount??????

Yep. Have the wiring routed to the left handlebar and connect your earbuds!

Would you give us some detail on your mod to move the installed sat nav cable to the left bar and what you fix up there to plug ear phones to it? Thanks.
PS - Unless of course you mean that you have drilled the sat nav mount and connected to the audio out socket. If so, any problems with the drilling?
