I,m a total hopeless case with electrics ,anyway I,ve picked up a couple of spots and a mounting bracket which is stainless steel and bolts to the high mudgaurd mount bolts,Here is what Im thinking ,I want them to work on high beam only ,mainly for flashing to contact people.I dont use the bike at night .I was wondering if I could earth each spot to the bracket and run feeds from the full beam wire at the headlamp to save cutting into looms etc .Is this feasable or could you recommend another method.Cheers :beerjug:

You will melt the wiring if you do that. You need a relay. Feed the relay coil from the high beam wire (white wire), ground the other side of the coil. Take a fused supply from the battery positive and connect it to the relay common connection. Then run two wires from the relays normally open connection to each spot lamp positive, ground the spotlamp negative.

Thanks Rob ,thats great I wll give that a go .Thanks.Another Question same bike ,Any Idea on screen options for a round lamped Gs and heated grips whats the switch options do bmw have a kit .Sorry for busting your chops .Cheers .

Eeeekkk No Don;t do that!

You need a Relay fed from the battery via fused supply to power the lights But You can use a linked wire to the Main beam feed to trip the relay

It just takes the load off Old Wiring

Relays are no real mystery You feed power from battery positive to Terminal 30 then you Run the wire to the thing using to power a Horn or a Light and then on to earth

You use the Power say as an example the main beam feed to Terminal 85 then from terminal 86 on to earth to complete the circuit

Now Here's the Important thing term 30 to 87 is known as the load circuit and must go through something whether its just a bulb or horn etc etc

Going direct to earth will melt the wires and relay if you have not fitted a fuse (of sensible load!)

just so you know

I've put on a screen from a K75, drilled holes for mounting at the bottom and halfway and anchored it to the cross bar of the handlebars using some old carbon fibre thin tent poles cut down and clipped cable tied up. It's not kosha bmw engineering but it does the job... keeps the wind of yer chest and makes riding longer easier. Only prob - it does seem a little noisier? I've been told you can cut the top of tghe screen down by a coupla inches - this makes it less noisy but more pressure on your chest... you'll have to find the happy medium.

OR - forget all the above crap and buy a proper after market screen somewhere.

As for the heated grips - mine broke years ago

David Nimrod has an after market screen on his. Drop him a line I'm sure he'll tell you what it is
