Hi

I have a small business, just me, and up to October last year I had a desk top computer attached to a small business server and two laptops which would connect remotely and sync "My Documents" folder in all cases. I could also connect remotely when working away. Now In October the IT firm I use to look after everything, upgraded my whole system, I put my emails in the clound and did away with my server and instead use a NAS drive, but I am having problems connecting the laptops to sync and with remote connection.

The wireless router I am using is the same one I had wih my old system, but the IT company are saying I need to upgrade it. But if it worked before why doesnt it work now, they are saying something about VPN:nenau? Are they lift my leg?

Thoughts appreciated.

Possibly not, if you used to use the Remote Web Workplace to access your system remotely, and now you use a normal VPN connection, you may have a problem. Some domestic type routers do not support the GRE protocol required by VPN, but not used by RWW -I usually suggest a Draytek router to resolve this problem.

Although since you can access your emails via the cloud, if you have a Netgear NAS, you might be able to use their remote service offering with your existing router, I don't think it uses VPN at all.
