My partner has a toshiba lap top on wireless which had been on BT internet
now at my place I am on talk talk previously tiscali and am on cable connection. A couple of weeks ago talk talk came round and put me on their tv package and provided a wireless router which is connected. But, cannot get the toshiba to work on it at all, been on the help line and but not much help and as a complete numpty with computers can anyone offer any advice please?. I realize I sound like a plonker but so do many on the engine forum so now it's my turn!. any advice will be welcome, suggested the out of the window option but dident go down too well!.

Down by the clock at the bottom right I've a little icon that is two squares almost on top of each other with a circle on the lower one.

Hovering the cursor arrow above it says (on my Toshiba) "Currently connected to" with the name of the network.

Right click on the icon and select "connect to a network"

It should then show all the wireless networks around, find the talk talk one and connect to it. You'll need to password though, might be WEP or WAP or some other acroynm.

Are you using windows? If so what version & can you get it connected to the internet by other means, i.e. network cable/mobile dongle etc?

Try with your anti virus / firewall disabled to see if that helps esp if its AVG.

I use AVG and have never had to mess with it when connecting to another network.
