Wraithwrider Guest Nov 30, 2005 #6 The 1200 doesn't need to be in gear. If you start the bike on the centre stand with the side stand down and the engine/gearbox cold or nearly so the rear wheel will turn. The computer detects rear wheel rotation with side stand down and stops the engine. Peter

andy1200 Guest Dec 4, 2005 #7 Yup. In cold weather you need to flip the sidestand up - then it should start first time.
