I have found a reason to justify the cost of the Navigator 2 to myself. So as I was today in London I decided to call in to Park Lane to ask about it. I found out the price and asked about the possibility of using it in a car. The young lad was helpful and directed me to Battersea. I called in at Battersea and asked about the GPS and using it in a car too. The fella in servicing told me that they didn't do a car kit for it as BMW (cars) do their own GPS :( . He said I would have to source my own car kit and power lead. I wanted it doing asap so I asked when he could do it. He told me September 6th and he would charge me three hours labour for fitting it. I went back to the base and phoned Woolastons. They said they can supply me with a car kit! and would charge me only one hours labour for fitting to the bike. I asked if it could be done on Saturday. He told me the workshop was only open for half a day. I told him it was urgent and he said he would fit me in Saturday morning. So thumbs down to Park Lane Battersea for not even knowing or bothering to check that BMW supply car kits for the Nav 2 :nono . Another thumbs down for offering to rip me off with an extra two hours labour over and above Woolastons. And well done Woolastons. :thumb

Mike...interesting choice...why are you going for the Nav II over 'better' units with quicker processors, more features and that are half the price???

Just interested ;)

BMW NAV II Plus is the current model. It comes with a 2GB card, so you don't have to go search for one. The price has dropped from the previous £1000+ to just below a grand.

The BMW has the following that that 2610 doesn't have:
1. The extra buttons on the BMW only cradle
2. BMW badging on the unit
3. BMW Labelling on the box
4. Can only be bought from a BMW dealer
5. It's BMW certified and if you buy BMW branded insurance, I understand that cover is immediately included. You don't have to pay more.

Need we say more. :D

I really don't know anything about satnav.
I need it yesterday so I don't have time to research.
I just heard that albeit expensive the BMW kit is good quality.
Since people started blowing up London I have been working 25 hours a day 8 days a week :mcgun so for once I do have more money than sense, mind you I don't have that much of either :eek .
