Hi,

I've noticed recently that my bike is bit unstable in bends. When I'm approaching some tighter corners I feel a point at which bike wants to "fall into corner" and I need to correct it. I read that it's mostly caused by low tyre pressure in front but my front is at 2.5 bar, so I wonder if it could be down to wear. I have about 8kmls on it and wear seems to be even, tread depth is still above legal limit but probably not going to last more than 2k.

Rear was replaced about 2k mls ago. Tyres are conti trail attack 2.

the curve of the tyre is not showing any signs of uneven wear. I used to have fronts "sliced" on right side on other bikes, but this one is still round and front doesn't slip.

In getting my Anakee 3's changed soon. Done just under 7K miles and the rear has squared off in quite a major way, which makes crossing wet white painted lines interesting! I reckon I could get another 1-2K miles out of it but winter is approaching and I'd rather have a good level of tread and grip, especially in some of the deluges we've had recently. Lots of people knock the Anakees as they're a touch noisy but it doesn't bother me and they seem to be very good at avoiding picking up sharp stones and other road crud.

if nothing else on the bike has changed then it most likely the tyre.
Tyres do go " off " I would change it.

Sounds like your tyres are squared off.

I doubt the rear is squared off at 2000 miles unless the OP does only MWay work. I guess it could be mismatched tyres ie one shagged front and a newish rear?

TBH at 8000 miles your front tyre is shagged regardless of it having legal tread left.

If it were me I'd put up with the handling (it's not dangerous tipping in like that) and run that extra 2000 miles you reckon it'll last. By then the back will be shagged and you can replace both together. Voila, sweet handling again.

Or, stop trying to eek out every last mile from the tyre and recognise that it's gonna be cold, wet and slippery out there very soon and having a nice new tyre on might be a good idea :)

Cue all the "I got a million miles out of my Avon Safety Mileage and there was still 0.01mm tread left......................................."

Andres

EDIT: I think I remember reading on here about the Conti 2 Trail Attacks going off on the front when worn?

more likely the rear tyre, a soft or squared off rear will cause exactly those symptoms

Replace both tyres. All will be well. Best money you can spend on a motorcycle. 8k is a lot of miles for a front tyre....swap em and revel the delightful handling of a new machine.

rear tyre is still as new. conti engraved name hasn't come off yet. I was just to confirm if that is behaviour of front tyre worn off, as this is first time me changing front tyre because of wear. In all my previous bikes I was changing then prematurely due to punctures.

8k on front and new tyre on back sounds like the rationale. Was going to suggest notchy head bearings but bike sounds way to young for that to be a consideration. Mind you we did have to change head bearings in a Tenere after 12k miles.. Might be a Long Shot?
