I got home fom work today, went to get off the bike and noticed smoke coming up by the clocks.i traced it down to the right hand exhaust.Where the crash bars are bolted into the engine was seemed to be oil dripping on to the exhaust.I am not sure where it is coming from, just had the 600 mile service any ideas please.

Did it smell oily?

When you wash the bike and spray something like WD40 on the engine, it can be that burning off - or

Could it be water that was dripping down from a recent downpour?

Course I could be talking bollocks and often do.....

Somewhere around that part of the bike definately holds water, ACF50 or whatever I've covered the bike in at that time. I can't see exactly where it comes from but, it's behind the head stock, under the fairing somewhere. Mine drips for ages over the headers when I've washed it.

Dont worry - just had a service so any problem is theirs anyway.

2 suggestions. A pals 1150 leaked from the head covers after service simply because he hadnt tightened down properly. And if the smoke is from the RHS, maybe the YTS kid doing the service spilled some oil onto the fins when filling and its now dripping from there.

Thing is, dont panic, just examine carefully and slowly with brain in gear and you will find the source. Good luck.:)

I have touratech bars fitted to the GS,and was noticing staining on the exhausts-on both sides of the bike-below where the bars bolt onto the engine.
On investigation i found green liquid(like coolant) coming from the welds on the bars,I've put this down to the heat of the engine maybe??
Has anyone with TT's bars fitted noticed the same?
