Guys,

On my 1150GSA, sticking through the starter motor cover and covered with a black rubber cap with a large + sign on it is a stainless / chromed stud about 15mm in diameter, which is permanently live.

Wot's it for? Is it for jump starting the bike, by connecting the leads to it and the frame? Or is it for some other mysterious Bavarian purpose?

Answers on the back of a twenty pound note please..............

Its twin, except for the rubber cover, is screwed into the rear of the left cylinder head.

Can also use it for battery charging or running ancillaries with croc. clips.:thumb2

Cheers guys, I guessed it might be. Hadn't spotted the one on the back of the cylinder head...............going to have a look now!

Cheers again! :)

:nenauso is the one with rubber cap + and the one behind the cylinder head -

:nenau err, yes. The +'ve is insulated and has the cover, the -'ve screws directly into the cylinder head as the electrical system is negative earth.
