I'm about to begin a long commute, most of it motorway and my eyes are starting to get drawn towards RTs. However I love my GS and wondered if a larger screen would make that much better in the depths of winter or whether to bite the bullet and swap. Any thoughts?

I have a GSA and bought the MRA touring screen with spoiler. It definitely helped keep the chill off last winter. The Givi hand guard extenders were also really good at keeping the hands warm and dry. To be honest, i didn't like the look of it and sold the screen, the stock GSA screen as actually pretty good at keeping the wind off.
Why not just fit a stock GSA screen ?
I have a Givi screen on my GS. It's much better than the stock screen. Quieter and no buffeting.
+1 on the GSA sized screen - on my GS.....

I'm in 100% agreement with Crotchrocket.
MRA screen was a waste of £90! Perhaps a slight improvement in buffet, but looks shit and wobbles in the breeze!
(Though to be fair that's the poor bmw mount, rather than the screen itself)
The advice, in posts above, to try the GSA screen on the GS is probably valid though.

MRA vario screen is smaller but with the spoiler it has the effect of a much larger screen. I'm 5'8" and it works fantastic for me.

If you love it, why swap? I commute all year round on my bike and while there are fully faired bikes that would give you more protection for the depths of winter, it never really gets that cold in the UK does it.
Invest in some really good warm base layers (remember you get what you pay for) and stick with what you love, you'll be glad you did once the temperature is above 0 degrees.
It's a bike, no matter what type of bike you have it's going to get chilly during the few weeks of winter.

Thanks for that tip, it didn't occur to me that the GSA screen was better AND it would fit my GS.

Visited my dealer to see the difference between GSA and GS screens. Hadn't noticed before that the GSA screen is taller and wider so have ordered a GSA screen to try on my GS. I'll post up the result. It was £168.
I have the Puig screen with Cymarc screen supports and the givi hand guard extenders. The last few days I have been cursing the hand extenders as its been 30-35 degrees in Spain. Today in the French Pyrenees it's 11 degrees and at times had my heated grips on.
I had the standard GSA screen before changing it, but obviously it depends on your height, I'm 6ft.

I have one that I bought from here - just like to get my money back. Some slight marks on a section of LH edge (not noticeable unless looking for it). PM me if interested/not too late. Can send photos.
Many thnaks for all the posts! After looking at an RT today, I remembered how awful they look and how massive they are and how much I like my GS!
I also stopped by BMW and looked at the GSA screen which fits ok but as I@m 6'1, would you guys recommend the PUIG over this? From what a few of you have said, it sounds much better. Does it fit straight onto the GS woth out any additional fitments?

I should perhaps have said that I commute all year and have done for years. I've got top of range Rukka kit that's brilliant plus all the base layers etc that you mentioned - I'm quite long in the tooth and probably ride a lot more than most!!
