I found these a little while ago and thought they were a really neat idea for always having your emergency and medical details with you

http://www.resqtag.com/

I contacted the company and they ship worldwide for the same cost as US domestic shipping, $2-3 per order. They also mentioned that they do a group discount for orders of 10 or more tags for groups such as ukgser.

They don't take paypal yet, only credit cards. If there was enough serious interest I'd be prepared to buy these on a card and have them sent to me, then send them on to members here who could pay me by paypal.

So, if you would be seriously interested in one or more of these tags, or if you know of a better alternative please drop a comment below.

Cheers,

Justin.

I'm interested, but how much is each tag?

If the price is right I may take a couple.

on the site they are 13 dollars,,,
less what discount,,? ...and are they waterproof??
good idea though, i think ill be having one (or two)

So far we've got at least 10 tags from here and myself/girlfriend. I've just emailed them to ask for a price, as they discount orders of 10 or more tags.

SHould have an answer back here shortly for you. I think I'll probably order 20 unless there's a sudden rush of people adding names to the list and will let you know the actual cost and then just split the shipping which shouldn't be too much.

first of this kind of thing that actualy looks simple enough to be usefull.

I would be interested in at least two.

Hey guys,

I don't want to rain on your parade but a mate of mine had a UTAG when he was taken off by a deer in Feb last year (Broken ankle, fractured shoulder blade and ruptured spleen:eek:) The paramedics and hospital refused to use ANY of the information in case it belonged to someone else !

for the same reason you don't see race drivers with there blood group on there race suits anymore

by the way my pall was back in the seat by May and did a tour to Germany with us in June :thumb2

So,if I'm allergic to Penicillin and it says so on my ResQtag, the paramedics will give me Penicillin anyway,in case it's not my ResQtag???

More than anything else it's the contact information that is worth having I think plus any medical allergies like penicillin as mentioned above.

Having it can't hurt, not having it could mean not having loved ones know where you are. I have ICE numbers in my phone but that's not always checkable. This seems like a cheap and easy extra layer of security, and the easiest one to find other than wearing a medical type bracelet.

Spot on......like a u-tag, this is something that seems like a good idea, but in actual fact would be close to useless....though the contact info would help some of the more 'thinking challenged' plod get in touch with someone I guess

Paramedics do not give penicillin, period, so no.

The same logic does apply to blood though......Paramedics do not carry or give blood or plasma, because they could kill someone by giving the wrong type.....it's only after you've been cross matched in hospital that you'll get anything other than saline......plasma and whole blood HAS to be cross matched first.....even if you have the blood group on a label, they won't take any notice of it, for exactly that reason.....

Lots of people here are riding around in a second hand/borrowed jacket (which could have a tag on) .....or with a second hand helmet that someone may have put a blood group on.....the information is useless.

Fair point, well made. I wonder what British paramedics would be like.

A photograph (printed or in a pocket) would be a novel feature.

I'm going to pop down to a local printing firm and see if they can make something similar. My wife is handy with a needle and she might be able to stitch up something similar.

I'll report back when I know if it is possible and a rough cost estimate.

RIGHT,so if the paramedics don't give me any fucking penicillin at least we can assume they'll be able to read ALLERGIC TO FUCKING PENICILLIN and tell their co-medics at the hospital "step away from the fucking penicillin"
And if I write "THIS BELONGS TO TW@ FEATURES" on my Tw@ Suit and crash helmet at least, once they've seen my ugly face, they'll know what the score is.
And,just to be on the safe side, I'll write "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY-CONTACT FANUM,UKGSer.com" on my ResQtag.:pullface

Fanum,if you don't want a ResQtag,go to your room.

Thanks ever so.:)

Interesting points of view. Wonder if it's different in the US as this was developed by a paramedic over there. Understand about not using blood group info, but still think medical allergies and contact info are still a good idea.

As for second hand jackets, I think it pretty unlikely someone would leave this on a jacket they sold. Even if they have a name it's often a help. Just like the tag I have on my running shoes. Few years ago I realised I never have any id on me if I'm out running, if I got hit by a car they'd have no idea who I am. I now run with an id tag laced into my running shoes with contact information and my name/address.
