There's other photos on this thread of the motor.

On the first one (the Fox) . .

Why go to all that trouble with the rear shock and swing arm only to retain the 100GS dodgy drum brake :nenau

Wouldn't it have been easier to use the bevel box, disk and rear hub from an 1100GS or something ???

Its always interesting to see what can be done with these motors.

(These do nothing for me though :rob).

Bob.

They do a lot for me though :thumb2 I'd love a special like these.

I'm damed sure though I wouldn't be dumb enough to go to all the trouble of fitting the 1100 swing arm without using the rear disc hub as well.

Also why the hell would you want to fit tube type rims when the hubs are designed to take the tubeless rims :nenau just daft IMO.

Jus look like feckin scrap ta me....:augie

So does a 1200 to me:augie

The first bike is from SWTsports in DE and they seem to be quite into the mucky stuff.
The guy is trying to make it as light as possible. Even using alloy and titanium bolts in the motor where possible, which is a little anal;)

The second (cantilever) just seems to be doing it because he can.

Is it cos its not standard?
Nor is this but I think it's brill:drool

Oh.....

I’m that dumb.
I have a HPN welded swingarm (same measurements as the 1100) and kept the drum brake.

a) The oilhead beveldrive fails under heavy load. We don’t downgrade our airhead do we?

b) The Disc fails when stones get trapped between swing arm and the wheel.

c) The 1100 have high ratio (850 is a bit better)

Also why the hell would you want to fit tube type rims when the hubs are designed to take the tubeless rims :nenau just daft IMO.

a) You can use sturdier rims

b) You can use sturdier spokes

c) You can “easily” get 18’ rear

Its easy to pass criticism . . when sitting in the warm in front of a computer.

Everyone has their own idea of what makes a great bike and a few actually set to and try to create it.

More power to them. I'm very glad they do and like to learn from their design decisions, even if I don't immediately find them all appealing.

All I do is add more (Touratech/Wunderlich/Metal Mule/Baglux) weight to my already overweight touring BMs :D
