Somewhere out there.
I've now had my insurance payout and am starting to look for a GS.

No rush as I will soon have an EN450 to get back on the road and tie me over.

However I have seen a GS that looks clean from the pictures is 02 with 38k. Dealer serviced up until 29k then serviced again at 35k.

The only thing that nags at me is there are 6 previous owners. That seems a lot in 9 years. Does anyone else think the same?

I would be looking to get a pre servo 1150 any ideas what I should expect to pay and what is a reasonable amount of previous owners?

Cheers.

In 1960

My father bought a 1952 Hillman Minx which the dealer assured him had one lady owner from new.
When he got the logbook he discovered this to be true. But there were also six gentleman owners.

In reality, who cares, as long as the price reflects condition.

People buy bikes and discover they are not for them and out them just as quickley....... Ive done it as many others have, doesnt mean its a bad bike to have any doubts about, but its up to you to check it for your piece of mind

One of the cleanest GS's I bought already had 8 owners ... lovely bike that was :thumb

Looks OK to me. I wouldn't worry to much about owner no's (unless its stupid excessive) - condition and FSH are more important.

So what?

Got a zzr1400, I am in the 4th owner in 18 months. Sounded dubious. Been a dream. First owner sold at 113 miles second sold at 2500 third at 3300. Sounded dodgy but was cheap and in brilliant nick. At the time it was a punt, now it's a bloody bargain.

If it was a Yamaha Tenere I could understand the multiple owners as people buy the bike for the looks but three out of four can't live with the reality.

The GS isn't the same scenario, so tread carefully and if you decide to go ahead, use the multitude of owners as a negotiating point, and make sure there's a good warranty with the deal.

Six "average" owners are better than a one owner bike if the owner is a right twat.

Certainly a knock down point, and I would maybe try and gauge why the current owner is selling it.

You could argue as 5 previous owners decided to buy this particular bike second hand it can't be that bad :nenau

If you have a bad feeling walk away, there are plenty of other bikes out there for sale, if you think your getting a good deal and have factored the concerns into the price you are paying and like a punt then go for it.

I bought my 1100 in Y2K with 5000 miles up, and it had already had 4 owners. No problems since.

The big GSs have always had very good press reviews, and I suspect quite a few folks were drawn in by the promise of comfort, handling, practicality, and the promise of adventure, only to discover that they can't live with the size & weight.

if you have to ask...you should move away from.......everything.

My GS (05 plate) has had 6 previous owners but it has a full service history and receipts for every nut and bolt. I was initially a bit sceptical about the number of owners but personally I think it's balanced out by the full service history. The bike is very clean and in great condition. I agree that, especially with the 04 and 05 plates that a lot of people bought these bikes off the back of LWR etc and didn't like them. I love my bike! It's been a cracking bike and i'm very happy with it. Hope you find the same if you go for it.

I bought an RS1100 with 6 previous owners and 12000 on the clock, it's fab!

That probably doesn't help you though !

Mine has 9 and is at around 45k now. Mechanically it's in great shape and cosmetically I've seen far worse but it was fairly cheap. Very happy with it and I didn't bat an eyelid at the number of owners.

Looks a bit overpriced to me.

I've seen several lebbenfiddy advs WITH a fair bit of touratwat bling on them for £3500 in the last week or two.....they may have had another 0-20k miles on, but on a GS, that isn't a problem.

Yes, I would buy one with 6 owners, but no, I wouldn't buy this one, unless it was absolutely 100% mint :beerjug:
