WPA encryption or MAC Address restriction or both

Yeah, I second the last motion. I wouldn't have Norton as a gift frankly !

In a way, it's like comparing a 'Yank' motor to anything made to 'go' by most european countries.....overkill on resources, heavy on the gas and crap to drive...but hey, whatever turns you on I guess. :lol

Final Postscript
I had to unplug the router this morning.
It was with some dread that I turned it on again expecting to have to rest everything again.
It had remembered everything.
I am very happy.
Thanks again everyone
Paul :)

I think 'Cheesy Mike' has a point. Unless you're surrounded by other wireless networks, limiting yours to the acceptable MAC addresses ought to be enough really.
In the initial post we were told that there are other networks around. Aparently wildbeeste doesn't have walls thick enough too keep his network isolated.

Any teenager with a little more than average interest in computers could easily fake a MAC-address so of all security measures that's one of the weakest. Of course there's no harm in restricting it but since it's trivial to work around, having it as the only security isn't very intelligent.

Apart from that you completely misinterpeted it, Cheesy Mike did have several points in that post.

I consider myself suitably admonished. You are of course correct to advocate proper security encryption such as WPA PSK provides :)
