Has anyone wrapped their vario panniers? I'm thinking of doing mine and wrapping them in satin black.

If you use the 3m wrap prep and a good quality wrap it’s quite doable.
I’ve wrapped a number of bikes and boxes and find the primer is the way to go on the inlays, there’s lots of YouTube videos on this.
Take your time and get plenty of wrap (for any mistakes) and don’t be afraid to use lots of heat.
There’s a number of good quality wraps available..... I use M3 or Avery.

what does the primer do?.. does it bond into the surface or make it more slippy to do the job? I always thought wrap could be removed without damage to the surface underneath, but maybe not. just seen the front of my mates TVR where he's removed the clear 3m protective film... LOL... thats a re-spray then![]()

Why bother ? Just buy black ones in the first place https://www.bmw-motorrad-bohling.co...0GGZEiSrIw3xrVTyiRwsqA1kDweLYgwsaAm7VEALw_wcB

The primer is applied to the surface and helps the vinyl bond inside inlays and yes it still can be removed with heat, it doesn’t make it slippery.
It’s not necessary if your experienced in applying vinyl but for the novice it should help.
The key is knowing how much heat to apply and not over stressing the vinyl when pulling, some vinyls are easier to work with than others so it’s important to get the higher quality.
If the vinyl isn’t removed correctly it can leave damage but this would depend on the condition of the paintwork underneath and on the way it’s removed.
Sorry to hear what happened to your mates car![]()

Becasue I already have ali ones?...![]()

Well you should have put a little more thought into it before you bought then then eh![]()

The black ones wern't out when I bought mine. always thought putting Ali on them was a bag idea for the obviouse reasosns, so from the start I wanted to wrap them or use the see through stuff to potect them.
Had an old lid and removed the Ali to see what it was like underneath, and that would work also if you covered that area....
Black ones only came out when they started with the smaller GS.
i never did like the ones with ali panels on them tbh. Far too easily damaged. I didn’t know the all black ones were even available till i saw them fitted to a bike the same as the one i bought, in my local dealers show room. Immediately thought, that looks the dogs do dahs so bought a pair at a much reduced price along with my nav6 the day i bought the bike. What vario paneers do you have?
didn't wrap mine but stickered them. Not as good as wrapping but a much cheaper alternative.
