Wristwatch Mechanisms - Any experts?

I want to swap over the (self winding type) mechanisms from two very similar watches. To do this I need to remove the little winder from its socket i.e. pull it the 2 clicks for watch adjustments then withdraw it further past the last resistance - do I just pull and then push it back into the new watch case? Remember doing it as a kid but forgoten the technique.

As a general rule, the crown is screwed onto the winding shaft.

and the left handed spigot fits between the latch mechanism actuator and the timing pully spool

nothing to do with the negative temperature coefficient of reactivity then ?
