Write To Ride

...too many cooks...

We will work with anybody to provide a united front.
A united front is the answer, but why not work from within MAG, nothing will come of anything if there are too many splinter groups.

Your location here is given as Rugby.............across the water.

Can you answer my question though please? Why shout about having a protest and a campaign without first writing a letter?

It seems to me that "agressive" or "in your face" protests are all very good as a publicity stunt but in real life cut no ice with politicians or decision makers in government here, in London or in Brussels where I suspect a different strategy is required and more productive.

You were in MAG before I gather, so why not in these different days we are now enjoying here, reform that group and work with MAG Ireland and MAG UK? Or could it be that Grazoid is correct about dividing and conquering?

Yes indeed Rugby at present but as I replied previously:

"Err born and bred in Belfast and Write To Ride is based in Northern Ireland - house move on the way to get back from across the water because this is my home and where I belong."

I have been back and forward this year to Northern Ireland and coming over for a week in a fortnights time, talking to the motorcycle clubs all in preparation for the move and we felt that Write To Ride needed to get out now.

The house sale, below or make an offer or comment on the decor

You are not quite right when you say, "It seems to me that "agressive" or "in your face" protests are all very good as a publicity stunt but in real life cut no ice with politicians or decision makers in government here, in London or in Brussels where I suspect a different strategy is required and more productive."

It has to be very clever, see http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com/ dialogue is what we want.

Re the question:

Why shout about having a protest and a campaign without first writing a letter?

Because we listened to the riders that contacted us however as the website says, as you read down the page

http://www.writetoride.co.uk/campaign_-_petrol_station.html

Tools for the future - This is one option if the situation becomes entrenched and one that is being seriously considered - peaceful right to protest.

So we did'nt shout about having a protest without first writinmg a letter, it was part of a strategy in consultation with clubs and riders involved.

Racking Up The Campaign - Organised Protest - Boycott - Political Lobby - Press Shop 4 U - Not 4 US

These are the tools for the future if there is no solution to the issue.

Organised Protest

As you may imagine this has incensed quite a few riders and the feedback for extreme protest has been but forward.

“What we need here is a ride through of bikers from all over the province because if one station gets away with this kind of behaviour so others will follow.”

“Apart from boycotting if any reply is not satisfactory then you could organise a peaceful/legal demonstration at the petrol station, a last resort scenario.”

“Using what the signs say, send groups of riders into the petrol station pay up front for £5 worth of petrol in five pence or one pence coins, then only put £4.50 or £4.00 worth of petrol in and ask for your 50p/£1 back.”

“By getting the local press involved, a good catch with the fifty pence/£1 change would be to donate the change to a local charity.”

Write To Ride: This is one option if the situation becomes entrenched and one that is being seriously considered - peaceful right to protest.

You say/ask: You were in MAG before I gather, so why not in these different days we are now enjoying here, reform that group and work with MAG Ireland and MAG UK?

Yes I was in MAG and we have been in contact with MAG Ireland to work with them. We are waiting for the results on this weekends MAG UK Annual Group Conference as there will be a change of Chair, we will be writing to the Chair of MAG and the BMF to work together. The General Secretary of MAG is aware through emails and physical meeting of what we are doing so we are and will be in the near future to work together.

You say to reform that group, we have a different approach and need our freedom not to be tied to a mainland based organisation, so that our voice is lost in the grand scale of things. Been there done that.

I was in Belfast a couple of years ago at the motorcycle show at the Odessy with the MAG stand and tried to kick start MAG in Northern Ireland, a message was sent out to MAG Affiliated clubs and MAG members to try and kickstart MAG in Northern Ireland, that fell flat on its face.

This will be different but we may go down in flames trying.

As I have said on the website we can not do this without support.

Sensationalism
Sensationalism is a manner of being extremely controversial, loud, or attention grabbing. It is especially applied to the emphasis of the unusual or atypical. It is also a form of theatre.
The term is commonly used in reference to the media. Critics of media bias of all political stripes often charge the media with engaging in sensationalism in their reporting and conduct. That is, the notion that media outlets often choose to report heavily on stories with shock value or attention-grabbing names or events, rather than reporting on more pressing issues to the general public.
