Looking for a way out
Gave the bike a thorough wash this afternoon.
Noticed the parking lights had turned themselves on for no obvious reason.
Ran the engine to dry things off and the lights went off OK.
Looked in the gargage 20 minutes ago. Side light and tail back on
Turned on the ignition and then off, all OK again.

Damp somewhere, or have a I got a dodgy wire?

Is it a 1200?

If so check the left hand indicator switch?

Just a thought

Looks like shite inside your ignition switch.

If the instrument warning lights are coming on without the key being in or turned, then that`ll be the switch contact block failing....it`s a kind of white nylon 'wafer' at the bottom of the ignition barrel....I had that on my 1100.

They`re not cheap.

Try some water dispersant spray first.

1150 -might be water under ignition switch shorting to park light position when off.
1200- you press the left indicator button when you switch off the key and the park lights stay on...

run some WD down the locking barrel, and its come on again. On with ignition and its off now.
If it oes it again I' have to investigate seriously

Interesting. I was getting my parking light staying on, AND the b ike kept indicating left on its own. I thought the alarm installation could be at fault, but this suggests that maybe I am getting a false sigan sent from the indicator switch.

It will be going back to BMW anyway (I boughht it on Friday), but I may try some WD40 sprayed in there first. They jetwashed it before I picked it up, so perhaps they have just gor some water inside.

s*dding thing is back on again.

I didn't use a pressure washer, just a hose.

Looks like an evening with the multimeter ahead

All explained. It was a dodgy rely for the riding lights. Push the wire, Click on, pull the wire click off.
