The problem is.....it doesn't fit

I ordered a wudo lowering kit from Motorworks.........it finally arrived and because i havea load of installation work to do in central London and had the bike in for service today, I asked Prestige to bung it on for me.

Apparently it won't fit......the Remus tries to point at a different angle that the little bent connection tube won't allow, causing the bracket on the can to be over an inch away from the two brackets wudo supply.....to make sure it wasn't the remus, PRestige did try a standard can but that was out by the same too.

The kit is labelled up for an 1150 GS so unless they've packaged it up wrong, I seem to be stumped.......anyone tried one before and got it to fit??

Now i've got to use the bloody car for this week's work....major major PITA:mad:

I have looked at buying the Wudo lowering thingy. The first time I asked Motorworks for a price (I assume that you bought it from them?) they asked me for the chassis number of the bike. Apparently there are at least two Wudo lowering kits for the 1150 GS.

Was your intention to fit RS or RT panniers rather than the 1 and a 1/2 panniers that are standard for the GS?

Yup was Motorworks..they didn't ask for frame number but they did ask if it was pre or post 2001 as that's when they apparently changed things.

I've got a set of Vern's loaners sitting here that I can't use even with their zorst cut-out, and he's shortly going to make me a set of new ones that i really want to have made full sized both sides, so I have to get the thing lowered first.

Bloody nightmare!!!

Perplexing. There is at least one reader on the board who has the kit fitted - he sent me some pictures of it last year. I doubt that I still have them, or his name, but if I find either I'll reply to this thread.

I must admit that I wasn't going to do anything more radical than replace the CAT with a 'Y' piece along with the Wudo whatsit. Now I'm a litle reluctant.

What set up did you have before trying to
fit the Wudo?

Richard

Remus Y and revolution can.....but Prestige B/Heath did apparently try a stock can as well so it appears it's the Y piece that's throwing things out or simply that the wudo kit is wrong.

If there are any photos of a post '02 1150 with a wudo kit on it'd be great....I didnt find any but if there's anyone out there.......

Not surprised you're having trouble. I'm trying to fit some old-style Jesse panniers. and couldn't get them to line up correctly with even the standard exhaust. Spoke to Al Jesse himself, and he told me that there are three different exhaust configurations, certainly on the standard 1150, depending on the supplier at the time. Apparently the angles and distances can vary quite a bit.

UPDATE..

Top marks to Motorworks ......in particular Bob who I've been dealing with.

They ordered another Wudo kit , same part number as I recieved so that we could comapre them...and Bob spoke to Wudo directly a couple of times and we made sure that the kit I had (by Wudo part numbers anyway) is the right one, i.e post 2001 model GS which is the point they changed the mountings.

Anyway, I just faxed Bob my ally plates directly from the flatbed scanner so he had 1:1 scale pictures of them, and it would appear that my plates are different from the ones he has:rolleyes:

So at least I now know my bike's not completely odd, and that Prestige aren't dopey and were correct about the kit not fitting.
Motorworks are also posting me out the different kit today so hopefully I'll be able to get the panniers back on before Princetown :thumb

It's taken a little time but I'm impressed with Motorworks.....good service and effort to solve a problem...Bob also asked me to send the price of me sending him back the incorrect kit...... I didn't even had to ask about that.

:D :D
