Very entertaining write-up, Wully, great stuff! :clap

And that Cape Wrath ferry is a cracker... Well done all of you.

Thanks for the maps, TP. :thumb2

This is getting a bit repeatative..but the road down from Gairloch was another belter...I find it hard to stop and take piccies when I'm having a good time:D

No idea where this is..

The idea was to ride the Bealoch na Ba but when we got to the bottom the clouds were below the sumit and I couldn't be bothered- it's a stunning drive on a good day though.

So I hoofed it off to sunny Portree with TractorPilot and Go anywhere K

P1010148.jpg

It was nice on arrival and the HRH's and Robmac joined us fora tasty dinner then we had a beer or two before bedtime.

Next morning things were a wee bit different. Rain and wind.

P1010149.jpg

Rain and wind on Skye...great gusts blasting down off the Cuilins made for an interesting ride down to Armadale for the ferry crossing to Mallaig. Once there we all sulked in the waiting room dripping all over the floor...

Loading on the wet slippy, moving deck..

P1010150.jpg

The Calmac crew made a good job of lashing the bikes down

P1010151.jpg

And we got a free salt water wash on the crossing.

P1010156.jpg

A quick fuel stop in Mallaig and we were off to Ardnamurchan in the slightly better weather stopping off for a break at a roadside cafe in Salen ( I think?)

P1010158.jpg

Then some more twisty single track all the way to our last point- 23 miles farther west than Lands End.

P1010159.jpg

Check out the salt crusted side of the lighthouse..

P1010170.jpg

Chas is happy to be there,,

P1010165.jpg

Way out west Wully

P1010172.jpg

There is a good we exhibition in the lighthouse buildings.

P1010167.jpg

Can you tell what it says?? I'll give you a clue or two..

P1010168.jpg

I don't fancy trying to hand start that bugger..

P1010164.jpg

Group foatie."Windswept and interesting"...

P1010175.jpg

Then it was time for the long haul back along some cracking single track roads to the short crossing on the Corran Ferry.

P1010177.jpg

Then a good blast in the rain over Glen Coe and back to our start point at the Green Welly.

All that was left to do was say 'cheerio' to the fine bunch of people who'd made the trip and that I hope to meet again soon.

Many thanks to all of you and above all to Chas for organising it all- I'll be back next year.

Wully.

Day 7 Maps - and on the 7th day no-one got to rest!!!

Day 7 - Portree to the ferry, over to Mallaig and down to the Ardnamurchan peninsula for the westernmost point. Back to the Corran Ferry then through Glen Coe and over Rannoch Moor back to Tyndrum and the Green Welly

Down to Armadale from Portree for the Ferry

From the ferry at Mallaig via Ardnamurchan Point to the Corren Ferry.

Thanks for the maps Neil:bow

It's pissing it down with rain here in Argyll today and blowing a near gale.

I STILL want to go out on my bike and not just for a short ride ( although that would do)

This trip has really whetted my appetite for longer journeys- top job Chas.

And a big thanks to all the rest of you who took part. One of the best things about the trip apart from the great roads we got to ride, was the company I was with.

I hope to see you all again soon, until then Cheers and happy riding.

The Google Earth version...

This is something for the GPS/Google Earthers out there. I put some maps up which Wully and Chas (Dogs... ) both used in their ride reports. I also included some Google Earth images showing the GPS tracks. I have now placed the file in '.kml' format including the paths generated by the GPS tracks at the end of the following link for you to download and view in Google Earth.

The link takes you to a page at a site called ADRIVE (free on line shareable storage) and the file will automatically download. Fire up your trusty Google Earth then File, Open and pick up the file from wherever you downloaded it to.

I would appreciate some feedback from tossers on whether people find this an interesting way to share a route.

Thanks
TP
