This is getting a bit repeatative..but the road down from Gairloch was another belter...I find it hard to stop and take piccies when I'm having a good time
No idea where this is..
The idea was to ride the Bealoch na Ba but when we got to the bottom the clouds were below the sumit and I couldn't be bothered- it's a stunning drive on a good day though.
So I hoofed it off to sunny Portree with TractorPilot and Go anywhere K
It was nice on arrival and the HRH's and Robmac joined us fora tasty dinner then we had a beer or two before bedtime.
Next morning things were a wee bit different. Rain and wind.
Rain and wind on Skye...great gusts blasting down off the Cuilins made for an interesting ride down to Armadale for the ferry crossing to Mallaig. Once there we all sulked in the waiting room dripping all over the floor...
Loading on the wet slippy, moving deck..
The Calmac crew made a good job of lashing the bikes down
And we got a free salt water wash on the crossing.
A quick fuel stop in Mallaig and we were off to Ardnamurchan in the slightly better weather stopping off for a break at a roadside cafe in Salen ( I think?)
Then some more twisty single track all the way to our last point- 23 miles farther west than Lands End.
Check out the salt crusted side of the lighthouse..
Chas is happy to be there,,
Way out west Wully
There is a good we exhibition in the lighthouse buildings.
Can you tell what it says?? I'll give you a clue or two..
I don't fancy trying to hand start that bugger..
Group foatie."Windswept and interesting"...
Then it was time for the long haul back along some cracking single track roads to the short crossing on the Corran Ferry.
Then a good blast in the rain over Glen Coe and back to our start point at the Green Welly.
All that was left to do was say 'cheerio' to the fine bunch of people who'd made the trip and that I hope to meet again soon.
Many thanks to all of you and above all to Chas for organising it all- I'll be back next year.
Wully.
