Just bought a Wunderlich Elephant tankbag with Base plate for me 2014 GSA LC off eBay for £140... it's in mint condition as well so I'm well chuffed with that bargain. Wanted one for ages but had trouble pulling the trigger in a new one at £200+ Been waiting for one on eBay for a used one on eBay and here for nearly a year.

Anyway, fitted the base plate and all it looks good even with the Wunderlich (Chinese copy) riders but my question is what's the female buckle for? I guess Wunderlich do another tank badge with a buckle here? I know they do a smaller version of the Elephant bag.

Really looking forward to using this bag on tour, I do love a good tank bag. I use a Wunderlich bar bag on my usual daily commutes.

Just ignore it. I have changed the baseplate for the a few bikes and they all have it. Great tank bag. Love mine and love the ability to move it around various bikes. The map case that fits on the top is excellent if you are an old school fan of maps.

Oh yeah I will, it's no bother, I may even find a use for it. I have the map case too. I do use the nav but I do like a map as well for the big picture and lists etc. What I love about it is the size and you can just turn it over without having to take the map out. I've wanted one for years when I had my 2008 F800GS but decided to go down the Wolfman route, which was excellent but that's all gone now so decided to use Wunderlich on the GSA LC... I know its OCD but I like to stick to one brand for the soft luggage accessories...

Remember the baseplate can scratch the paint around the gas cap - as that is the place which takes some stress when tight. A paint protection sticker around the gas cap should help in the long run.

I have one of these bags.... the camo one purchased from NN. the buckle you mention i think is so you can use the additional map pouch without having the tank bag fitted to the base...
