Here and there, now and then.
Has anyone fitted a set of Wunderlich engine bars? I've just aquired a set, but the instructions are in german, I've tried to translate using on-line translator, but it's still gobbledegook. I've just recently bought the bike and I'm a bit reluctant to start pulling it apart without decent instructions.
Any help and advice gratefully accepted.

Wrap something around your telelever to protect it ;)

Loosening the front mudguard helps too. After that, it's just a question of wiggling them about till you get the right angle, and Robert's your dad's brother.

Do a search on the site, there's a great set of instructions by Simon Eassom...............

Ah, bugger it, I'm in a good mood :D, the links here

Nope... those instructions are for H&B, not Wunderlich...

I think they are the same, on the 1200 that is. Other than that they're probably completely different:confused:

Here's how I removed them.

Remove or move fuel tank to rear of bike, watch fuel overflow pipes. To do that remove right hand panel just below fuel tank, held on by 3 plugs, just pulls off, watch you dont break them.

Single bolt on right hand rear corner of tank, holds tank in.

Remove the front wheel and mudguard.

Fit the main part of engine bars to lower front of engine inside the bash plate, this is a long single bolt.

Two securing points on the top of the main part fit behind the fuel tank on the two bolts, one either side of main frame, which hold the front display panel. These you will see when you move fuel tank.

The two support struts fit to the bolts securing the centre stand. then fit to the main part with two bolts.

Protect your telelever.

Worst part was the two bolts on the centre stand. The right hand one is behind the spring and is a sod to get at, I did it with the stand raised for that side.

Hope that helps

PS. When you remove the cover, RH side, behind it is the electrical connector for the fuel tank, slide it forward to lift it off it's mounting point then it splits into two.
