Are these any good? I want to get some fairing/engine bars but want to keep the costs down for a little while (money spent on some really good panniers - nothing left in the pot). Wunderlich seem pricey but look good - what are people's thoughts? Mind you - evrything is pricey int his game eh!!
Happy Mondays Guys! ;)

Wunderlich screen looks like it would give good protection to boudy and hands, anyone tryed it?
I'm looking for info no thease too Moo so I'll tag along if you don't mind.

Hello Val - no I don't mind you tagging along :) -- thats what this type of forum is all about eh? How has your girlfriend found her 650? I am LOVING mine and am finally getting some days out on it (my hubby has one too). My main problem was finding panniers that could be used for my job (without melting) and were easy to use. I have found some (Caveman supplied them) but now need to get things like the crash bars to protect the fairings (esp). Haven't had a reply yet - so we'll see what happens.
Maybe we can meet up for a ride out one day - the 4 of us (and more). Have never been on one (a ride out that is :D ) ---and Wiltshire isn't too far is it from us???

hmmm , crashbars well personally i have the bmw ones on mine , i dont know the price tho as they came with the bike , i think they give pretty similar coverage as the wonderlich ones .
im pretty sure sw motech do some as well , im sure caveman could advise ...

ive had the touratech lower engine bars before but had problems with them cracking ,so maybe best to stear clear (there was no problem getting replacements btw)
the touratech top fairing bars look good as they protect the front side panels & radiator area .

hope this helps some, :) if you want more advice look at f650.co.uk

regards mike

Hi Moo,
My girlfriend is collecting her bike at the end of the month. So as you can imagine she can't wait to get out on it. I'm sure she'll be up for a meet. Your about an hour from us I think so a meet somewhere in Berkshire might be best. Any one know a good place to meet? I have a 12gs, though I doo like the 650 it's such good fun, but I like to ride a phisicaly big bike 'long arms you see'. :)

I have fitted the Ergo Touring screen on my GS to replace the factory high screen , and it just about perfect.

It is higher and wider than the "high" screen , with a flip at the top, gives good protection and is quiet too.

It works particularly well with the factory top box - I removed the box for the first time last weekend and was surprised at the difference in noise and turbulence.

Only downside is that the mirrors tend to get blown inwards much more.

Santa Cruz BMW site has good pics of the screens.

Hi Val,
Well, perhaps we can have a ride out - but not sure when. Keep in touch via PM's - and I'll PM my number - as its nice to meet up with other GSer's and just generally, other bikers. We are near the Ace Cafe if you fancy a ride out there one Sunday for tea (never been - so would like to go sometime). We have a young son (9 soon) who is getting used to being on bikes - and now that winter is arriving :( -- but I would really like to get some ride outs in the spring when the cold weather is less likely -- OR at short notice on a cold winter clear day!! :clap The best time to ride me thinks!! :bounce1

and back to the Wunderlich gear -- I reckon that is the best for the fairings anyway - so will probably go with that. and thanks for the stuff on the screen Beemer -- useful stuff always to hear other peoples thoughts.

I think the BM ones are about £80, which personally i think is good value.

as for the faring protectors, i too was looking at the wunderlich ones. i've seen the touratech version on another dakar and they looked ok, the only difference i could see between the two was that the wunder's are silver, not black!

dunno how they perform, but they've gotta be better than nowt
