I bought one of these for my 2012 1200 GSA, instructions are crap, :mad:spent 2 hours trying to fit it to the bike, fecked if I can do it.
Any hints or tips on how to fit the damm thing?
Cheers
Jake.

Remove torques bolt from forward right mirror mount, replace this bolt with longer one, screw the 20mm black piece onto the excess thread underneath, this is threaded with two different sized threads.
Fit thumb pressy bit using rear original mirror bolt and secure lower section with the small screw from the kit.
I used a larger rubber bumper, to reduce the effort needed to operate.
The supplied instructions are at best inadequate. :beerjug:

Yes, the instructions are poor.
The kit is ok, but the spacer design in my opinion, is poor. What you end up with is a bolt screwed into two threads :-the bottom half of the h/bar clamp, and the threaded spacer.
The spacer would be better with a couple of spanner flats.

Actually I find the Wunderlich thingy makes things worse!
All I really needed, was a lump of rubber glued to the cancel button.

I have one on my RT, which is a different fitting from the GS. I have to say I find it useful, but we are all different.
As to the fitting, a mate & I puzzled our way through it, but it was a case of "If I had to do it again" it wouldn't take half as long - so his next challenge is to fit one to my GS !:rob

I tried one for about three miles and couldn't wait to get home so I could remove it. It was harder to use than the original cancel button and looked terrible. It wasn't too hard to fit, remembering that it includes bits for more than one set of switchgear.

We are all different of course, but that was my feeling about the gadget after a few miles.
I suppose if I had a thumb about 6 inches long with several joints, it would be ok.
I'll take mine off and stick something to the cancel button.
Our postman thought it looked impressive though!
He's got a bike with a proper indicator switch.

Why on earth faff about with bits of overpriced plastic when the indicators are self-cancelling?
:nenau

Leaving aside that not all BMW boxers are self-cancelling, if you have two junctions close together you may need to cancel the signal promptly to avoid a misleading signal being left on.

So hit the cancel button then.

Whats the problem?

Personally, with the later oilheads I find the cancel switch just out of convenient reach; presumably enough people feel the same, to make it worth Wunderlich's while to make the extension ? Just as some people find aftermarket clutch or brake levers suit their anatomy. If you're happy with it as it is, fine.

Are you disabled?

Having ridden 1200 GS's since '04, and plenty of other bikes since then, I can't say I have ever had a problem with any indicator system.

I wonder sometimes how folks manage when they hire a car abroad and find the steering wheel on the wrong side, and changing gear with the wrong hand.

The mind boggles.

Well, I too have ridden BMW's for many years, since 1976; it didn't make my thumb any longer. As you clearly have no need of this extension, why are you concerned if anyone else finds it useful or not ?

And no, driving a left hooker has never been a problem.

Why the need to descend to sarcasm ?

Blimey - you may have stumbled upon something there. If Wunderlich get wind of it, they may just make some overpriced bling to bolt on and ease the pain of the helpless.

Its a forum. Not only that, its the 1200 section. Did you expect anything else? Honestly?

£30.00 for a bent strip of metal? Give yer fuckin' money to charity and leave yer fuckin' winkers on! :D FFS! :thumb

Good one, I'm returning it, will just have to get used to the standard BM cancelling switch.
Cheers guy's.
Jake.
