I recently bought a used Power Controller and a mechanically minded friend of mine fitted it yesterday in accordance with the instructions. Unfortunately we have some problems - the bike displays error messages and the unit flashes all lights like a christmas tree. the only thing we can think of is that maybe the cabling to the cylinders is left and right specific and I will try swapping over the present routing. As I said, its not a new unit - does anyone who has fitted a Power Controller recall if there is some sort of labelling on the cabling of a new unit to indicate left and right ? If there isn't , any ideas ?

There is no differance between left and right cyclinders. I can only suspect that it may be a faulty unit?

I have fitted/refitted one to mine half a dozen times over the last few weeks, no problems at all.

Thinking about it, when you say it flashes all the lights, yes when you first fire it up all the green LEDs will strobe backwards and forwards.

This should then stop after a few moments and just the green LED on the left hand side should be on, from memory.

Have you reset the ECU before you reconnected the earth onto the battery. Long shot I know, but that is the only thing that springs to mind?

I presume that you have the english instructions? If not then you can download them from the Wunderlich website.

I know I should know but I don't - how do I reset the ECU ? Is this the open and close the throttle 3 times procedure ?

Yep thats it.

Not forgetting to disconnect the earth on the battery first for a few seconds. But I think that the problem is with the unit :nenau

Does it start? I've put one of these on three different bikes - my '05 GS, an '05 ST and my '07 Adventure. Never had a problem except once, not thinking, I wired it to the wrong terminal on the battery (pos vs neg).

It works GREAT on my Adventure.

I'd have to repeat the question above - do the lights continue to flash or is it only when it's first turned on. They should all go out in a few seconds.

I think that there is a thread where someone else had issues with swapping left and right. The Wunderluch instructions don't make mention of having to fit the correct way (but the techlusion? ones do). Do a bit of a search and you'll find which wire colours should go to each side.

When I fitted mine I wondered about this as well to be honest, so I fitted it in either combination and it made no differance at all. :nenau

No matter which cable went where, the bike ran fine with no error messages, so make of that what you will. :nenau

BTBR - Mine also ran fine when I fitted mine, and I wasn't sure if it was just luck that I got it right (this is the thread I was thinking of http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105287 )
and this is the Techlusion unit that looks the same http://www.customdynamics.com/motor...hlusion_fuel_injection_control_module.htm#BMW
It is the TFI-1334ST
and the instructions here
http://www.dobeckperformance.com/TFI INSTRUCTIONS/TFI 1334ST/TFI 1334ST.pdf
which say
That the longer of the two leads goes to the right (No. 5 on the instructions).
Admitedly it's not the Wunderluch Power Controller but (I think) they're the same unit differently badged.

Looking at the instructions I think you're right. Same general setup as the Wunderlich.
