Thought I would post the pics of my new bike with bars. Like all things in a busy life no time to fit in all you want. So find someone you can trust. Bought my new Klim Badlands suit at the Adventure Bike Shop and dropped into conversation I had purchased the bars but no time to fit them. A deal was struck and here is the result and I am really well chuffed

Bloody hell those rear bars are a throwback! Don't recall seeing such bars since the 70/80's.

Before anyone asks, I have no idea why the pic is on its side..

Lol...yes, I recall having similar on my Honda CB250 G5 back in 76..

Not satisfied with selling bars for the front, manufacturers have realised that they can double their sales, to include the back.

My honest opinion ?

Sorry but they just look shite, but I suppose they do a job. I prefer the head protectors myself.

Don't sugar coat it then....:D
Yes, I also head protectors.

Do these rear bars stick out wider than the panniers?
If so the bike must be as wide as a Smartcar.

If you look on max bmw they have a you tube video of an RT laid on it's side showing how the plastics are clear of the floor. Not a lot of clearance though. You wouldn't want to be laying it down on a rough surface...

I guess it depends how far you want to take things - I just went with the head protectors

Lol, yes also my honest opinion. Shite.

+1 Sorry. Front are OK but rear look terrible. Personally I think all this protection is a little bit of a waste of time, at best it will help if you drop the bike at standstill but in any sort of crash they offer little protection. Why ? Because the bike has magnet attraction to solid objects. In my experience the bike goes down, slides onto a grass verge digs in and then flips into a field.:blast

I fitted the cylinder protection ones as well at the weekend, I bought the fairing protection ones as well, that may be this weekends task.

But as you say, easy to fit the cylinder ones.

You can satisfy some of the some of the time and you can satisfy some of the people all of the time, but you cannot satisfy all of the people all of the time.

Not sure which category you fall into there.

Somebody also stated or alluded they would not fair well in a proper crash. Yes agree 100% and I would not expect them too as I would expect any part of the bike in contact to be damaged.

My idea when I had them fitted was to protect the bike on slow manoeuvre and dropping it ( 63yrs old and not dropped one yet) but older weaker erring on the side of caution more than anything.

The person who made the remark regarding it must be as wide as a Smart car, duh! No it isn't and you obviously don't rite an RT. Which raises the question why are you commenting? Yes, yes it's a free world and yes, yes because you can.

:thumb still the banter is not taken to heart and I think my "stealth fighter" looks the business.

Bike leaves the UK tomorrow to be parked up for Christmas in the hall going from Portsmouth - St Marlo to Chabanais let's hope the weather is better over there.

:rob ride safely

When you are outgunned and old, it's best to stay in the dugout.

Enjoy your Christmas in France. For a full festive look, hang your balls from the bars.
