I guess because motorcycle designers now focus on what they perceive as "trendy styling that sells" ahead of function or comfort. Things like 12" of space above the rear tyre on a bike that has 5" of suspension for that "ass in the air look". Rear cowling that stops ahead of the rear axle to show off the "massive tyre". Silencer angled up 45* using the space where a pannier would go. Mud guards that are almost non existent with what little there is being narrower than the tyre. And of course seats sloping up at the rear and downward in front.
Unfortunately I have had to buy aftermarket seats for most of my motorcycles with the V85TT being an exception, that bike is comfortable as it is. So far the levelers have improved the stock seat but time will tell if enough, I still might have to buy a damn $400 seat for this GS.
