Quite a few people at Beaulieu bought the cruise control thingy from the SPC stand.

Just wondering how you all got on with them :)

Works OK, would only use for short periods to give my right wrist a rest tho'

Didn't buy one at the weekend but have had one in use for the last 11,000 miles.

It works fine but you have to like a heavy throttle action because that's all it does really, makes it stiffer (oo'er missus!)

With heated grips switched on, it will become even stiffer (steady!).

It does allow you to ride without maintaining a grip on the throttle and avoids any cramp in the right hand (fnarr, fnarr!)

It's almost impossible to finely adjust once on the move.

Why didn't BMW provide a throttle-stop screw like they used to?

Cheaper version

Why didn't BMW provide a throttle-stop screw like they used to?

They do it's called a Heated grip with damper and it costs £69.37
BMW part No 61.31.7.671.604.

It replaces the throttle heated grip, and has an adjusting screw at the base of the grip to dampen the throttle action.

I've had one on my 1150 GS for three months now and wouldn't be without it.

I recall our chat in Bristol when I noticed yours on the bike but I didn't realise you don't have a heated grip OR do you? Considering one myself. Slightly confused.

I do have heated grips on my bike. The Heated grip with damper is a direct replacement. This means that it isn't as easy to fit as the wunderlich restricter which just replaces the handlebar weight, as the whole heated grip assembly including wiring has to be replaced, which means lifting the tank etc.

I get to keep my old heated grip as a spare. which I could sell on if I wanted.

Whether BMW do a Non heated grip with damper is a different matter, I don't know, but then they usually cater for all markets.

Thanks Ian

Do recall how much you were charged at the dealership for the fitting?

Don't buy until you visit the Wunderlich web site. A new version of the cruise control is on sale and it looks more user friendly. The rotating friction ring used to secure the throttle grip is now more pronounced. Whereas the original was level with the damper and was difficult to operate with gloves or while moving.
