Wun Vario Screen - got one fitted to my F800GS. Bought from Nippy Normans - as usual arrived v. promptly! Really easy to fit - just take out fixing screws for standard screen (actually a bit more complicated for me as I had the BMW touring screen fitted so needed to reinstate the fairing brackets) and follow very clear instructions. Build quality is good - the screen comes in two sections - bottom half smoked and a thinner clearer adjustable top section. This top section then has quick release catches to enable further adjustment - but there is a sliding range for fixing the top section (before adjustment) so quite a lot of scope for getting the thing set just right. Only issue I had was that one of the carriage bolts which hold the two pieces of screen together was not properly threaded and so permamently loose and it took a good couple of weeks for NN to source replacments from Wunderlich.

Once on and moving, the first thing I noticed was the reduction in blast to the chest, hands and shoulders - it really deflects well at hand level and is much wider than the BMW screens (stock & touring). It does flex quite a lot, which took some getting used to - but I am 6'4" and had it extended to the full.

Couple of minor downsides - as it is v. wide my handguards just touch the screen at full lock which has no effect on riding (touch - not restrict) but means that the whole lot will have to come off at MOT time. Also, the adjustment release levers appear to be designed specifically to scratch the lower screen when released. They could really do with rubbers/plastic coating - which I'll do when I can be bothered - oh, and just a little more thickness on the upper section would be better - but a v. minor gripe!

The problem, as with all screens - is whether they actually work for an individual. I found that on lowest setting I was very sheltered up to neck level but got full blast on the helmet of 'not quite clean' air; on higher settings and up to max things deteriorated until on the top setting I had turbulent air hitting the top of my helmet causing appalling head shake and noise. So I fitted a Wun screen extender which has done the trick for me. This means that I am looking through or round it when going up hill or accelerating hard - but I don't see there's anyway round this. If you want the wind out of your face then you need a screen up to 'just below eye-level' which means that you are going to have to look 'through' rather than 'over' at some stage.

As we are all different sizes it's impossible to say - buy this it'll do the job - however, the Wun Vario works for me and I'm happy to recommend it as a piece of kit.

Hi Dario
Can you give me some more details of the MRA screen. Is it the standard screen or the taller version?
Thanks Statler

Not sure believe it to be standard size. It has adjustable spoiler to top of it. Sorry about late reply. Just checked this post.
