One of my regular cycle routes includes the former RAF Zeals and not far away is a crash site, which I intend to visit the memorial.

Added and give it a BLUE pin, so its easier to distinguish from the crash sites.

Another Sunderland crash, this time the a/c was from Pembroke Dock but was diverted to Lough Erne due to weather. They missed the beacon for Castle Archdale at night and mistook Donegal Bay for Ballyshannon. Heading east they flew into The Blue Stack Mountains. Couple of survivors, one of whom was choppered up to unveil the memorial in the late '80s, I think.
Still bits of wreckage all over the place, it's very remote and a lung buster to get to. I hiked up there to have a look when my knees were 40 years younger. Location is 54°45'15"N 8°04'52"W.

Another Sunderland came down at Corlea Co. Donegal, just north of Belleek in August 1944.
The Crash site memorial was on the Irish Photo Rally about 20-25 years ago and I visited it, I should have the coordinates but I can't find them.......a good excuse to go for a ride!

Does make you wonder if these Sunderland flying boats are difficult to fly, so many of them crashed.
If you do ride out to these take a photo and use the built in compass app on your phone to record the grid reference
On android compass app, if you press the pin icon it comes up with the address and N/W ref with a copy button so you can paste into this forum or anywhere else.

The 422 Squadron Crash site was near here. We just happened upon it heading for Assarnacally waterfall NR Ardara.
