Bit late to the thread but thought I'd throw in my €0.02 worth
I bought mine after using one on the off-road school. I've done loads of road & off-road, including one lap of the Cambrian
& three weeks in Morocco
They're a brilliant bike for everything except motorways & really long distances - they'll do both but aren't nearly as comfy as a 'proper' GS.
Some folks have had problems with the air shock but so far mines fine.
The TT tank adds 16l to the original 9l so you can go almost anywhere. Plus it's carried quite low down either side so it doesn't feel too bad. We didn't actually check the distance we were going on a full tank cos we topped up when we got the chance but they'll certainly get you further than a GSA.
The seat's a bit hard on long road runs but you can always stand up (but you'll probably need risers to be comfy)
I have ally panniers on the GSA & they'd be my preferred option but with all the other costs associated with getting ready for Morocco I just used a tailpack on a rack that Daithi fabricated for me. That & a small bicycle cooler bag from Lidl & I had sufficient carrying capacity for the 3 weeks. Daithi used a pair of 'throw-over' panniers (see original photo) but he needed to change that huge end can to facilitate this.
I've been running on MT21's since the start & can't fault them. Work on mud, gravel & tarmac & the wear rate is very acceptable. Apparently they're not great in sand but then, nor am I
Rather than buying a tail tidy - it's an off-road bike ffs, not a sportsbike - I just removed the tail piece & fitted a self-made number plate.
Ready to roll :
