Nearly there all the mechanical stuff is done now a couple of little tweaks and I'm there then off to holland for some goodies of Erik, I must say as well I'm well impressed with the hypro shock compared to the air shock night & day, I rode a hundred miles today no issues at all it rod like a dream!!!

What have you done about the seat? it's not still standard is it?

No Nathan I've a lovely comfy seat now I don't whats happening I can't seem to get them off my I phone, il have go now, have you got heated grips on yours if so which ones ? I wired the ones up the grips that are on it there crap,!!!

Nope. No heated grips on mine, though i do think they might be a good idea after the last ride out i did. I'm currently looking at fitting muffs instead

It's funny you say that I saw those mits on the touretech site and thought they could do a job , a quick question when I went out for a spin today I noticed the speedo was all over the place I guess that's because I've altered the sprocket size ? If so is there a fix for it.

Speedo all over the place? That shouldn't have anything to do with sprocket size. The speedo is driven off the back wheel, but off a ring on the brake disc. Is the pickup sensor still in the correct place?

When are you going to Holland Robbo? I'm there on 12th Feb at Hyperpro to have the suspension on my X Country sorted. Be good to have some company is all.

Re heated grips. I fitted the Symtec grip heaters (http://www.adventure-spec.com/default/symtec-heated-grip-kit-toggle-switch.html) to my Xcountry and they work very well. I have also fitted muffs. At first I tried the Tucano muffs I use on my GSA but they didn't work too well as they pressed on the kill switch as soon as I put my gloved hand into the muff. I then bought a pair of the Wunderlich muffs which are a better fit (http://www.wunderlich.de/shop/en/handlebar-muffs.html) and together they keep my hands nice and toasty.

Hi modman i was hoping to go either next week or if not I've got to wait till after the 16th, a mate of mine is coming over as well and we was going to throw them in the van and drive over, thanks chris that's me then symtec it is then I'm def edging towards muffs as well I think, the other thing I realised after doing a few miles is I need to sort something with the pipe I'm melting my trousers !!! Also a new set of pegs I think I can't get on with standard ones.

I've got the symtec heaters too. they work amazingly well. I also have GSA tucano muffs. They don't fit well, but I thought that was because I'm using F700 touratech handguards. The muff touched the kill switch but can't press it.

With the them on the symtec grips can get too hot even on low. My right hand was red raw on long ride out. I need to better insulate the left though. Electrical tape isn't much good.

Enjoy! I was there on Thursday to have some work done. New rear shock, new front fully adjustable forks, 21 inch Excel wheel and other odds and ends. The workshop is a great place to spend the day and I think Bas said he was expecting some more UK people there in a week or so and so could have been talking about you. Look forward to hear how you get on.

Apologies for the terminology, as I'll probably get it wrong.

Erik (From Hotrod) had some Shiver internals he machined to fit the fork legs, the fork legs need to be machined at the bottom to allow the adjusters to fit. So no changing anything on the triple clamp at all on the bike. Then Bas & David installed Hyperpro springs and performed a custom setup for me (Weight, height etc). The forks now have rebound adjustment on the tops and compression on the bottom. I did sort of a trade in with my old fork legs so I believe Erik or Bas will machine them again for more shiver internals for the next guy who wants or needs that upgrade.

Just one thing worth mentioning, although I know you've done a lot of the work already. Bas at Hyperpro got me a lot of bits from Erik at Hotrod (Protection parts etc) so if you want anything like that it may be worth letting him know as it saves an additional trip. Also I took a lot of my spares with me (Wheel bearings, headstock bearings, spacers etc) and they fitted a few of them for me (Headstock bearings in particular) as they were notching a bit and while the front end was off it was only an hours labour which is way easier than me doing it. Within reason they'll do most things.

Hope that makes sense. You'll enjoy wondering around the workshop, it's a little Aladdin's cave. There is a radical X Challenge there (Canadian guy I believe) which is so tall it comes up to about my chest!

All done in a day. I arrived at 9:30am and left at around 6:30pm. If you liaise with Bas before hand he will be able to get you all the stuff from Erik so you don't need to go to him. I paid Bas for everything, incl Erik's bits.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Robbo

The workmanship is second to none. Same goes for Bas and David explaining everything and being chatty. To be honest I felt guilty looking over their shoulder all day but they didn't mind (Or were too polite to say) and they explained everything in idiot terms for me. In terms of travel on the front and rear. Yes, I have more, but perhaps for odd reasons. I have a 2009 lowered X Country and wanted it raised a bit, so when they raised it, I sort of got additional travel as a byproduct if you know what I mean. How much more, I don't know. However, I mentioned I have bought a 21 inch front wheel which I'll fit this weekend, this means I will run the F800GS front fender with Erik's brackets which may hit the lower triple on full compression I believe (But will just go back into shape) so I'm not sure of the travel.

No probs guys , I've done all the wheel bearings spacers headstock bearing etc, I've fitted the hypro shock but want bas to set it up correctly for me, Eriks sorting the fuel and I'm having a pannier rack as well, the lights are a bit of an issue but I'm having mark71 spots now so all good there,
Then it's off to the paint shop black I think then screen I can't afford the rally fairing at the mo, so a screen will suffice for morrocco
