Xchallenge ABS question

I have just returned to xchallenge owership after a few years break. The bike I have now has ABS which was not necessarly something I wanted but it came with the bike! I'm currently doing the necessary mods for its first trip off road (it has never been off the tarmac since it was new) and am not sure what to do with the fron ABS sensor cable. It runs up the outside of the lower fork guard and is very exposed. Is it possible to re route it or am I best just to remove it. If I do remove it will it cause any problems with the rest of the braking system and will the ABS still work on the rear wheel?

But if it did get damaged all that would happen Is the abs won't work. Guess what I'm trying to say is completely remove the abs or leave it alone, switch of when on the dirt and STOP worrying.
