2 of us with Xchallenges went up to Hilltop Motorcycles near Leicester to get the bikes checked out.

Well I was very pleased with the results not just on paper but seat of pants riding.
36 BHP up to 45 BHP and 32 ft/lbs torque up to 39 ft/lbs of torque.

The main improvement was the steady BHP rise which smoothed everything out and the flatter torque curve. Also the engine runs smoother with less vibes and it runs a lot less lean. Pulls from 40mph in top with ease now which it never did before.

Overall a great improvement all round. I'm hopping for an increase in fuel economy as it's never been that great in the past.

A Big thanks to Geoff at Hilltop and IMO money well spent!

Still far from the 50 bhp that bmw originally claimed!

Have you done much to the exhaust and intake side of things to free the breathing up as well??

How much did the remap cost?

Is that 52BHP measured at the back wheel? If it was at the crank then the figures will be about right I'm guessing?

Pretty much all manufacturers quote 'crank' output and then it's often a little bit, er, on the high side..........

Looks like he's done a great job on the bike - bet it goes 'like it should do' now! I've been meaning to get the Husky down there for a while, he used to be a Husky dealer so is dead interested in having a look see - ta for the kick up the arse for me to go get it sorted :)

All manufacturers quote crank figures. There's a lot less variables in play than when looking at rear wheel power.

The figures will be pretty damn accurate too.

mhsnowy, how does this remap process work?
Standart BMW equipment or some trickery involved...

You mentioned the fuel economy was bad? this is very surprising as I'm constantly amased at mine delivering bang on appetite no matter how slow or hard I ride it! And it is widely accepted as one of the, if not the, most frugal singles of its class...

What consumption are you getting now vs before remapping?

All the X range of bikes run weak from the factory low down due to emissions, although mine was weak up to 4k revs.
So the first thing that would improve is the fuel/air mixture.

Mine had larger Remus front pipe, foam air filter and a Leovince exhaust, so now it obviously runs absolutely perfect now as everything is working together.

I don't fill up to see what I'm getting but I seem to be topping up less.

It runs so sweet now and acceleration even hard acceleration is smooth all the way through with no hesitation at all.

Geoff has written his own maps to put on the ECU to replace the BMW standard map.

The maroon line is the new torque curve
The red line is the new power curve
The lower blue line is the old power curve
The upper blue line is the old torque curve

The most noticeable thing is the way the torque and power have smoothed out as well as the increases in both.
