I have a Remus exhaust on my XCh and it has the little baffle around the tip. It also has a rather tinny sound that i'd be keen to get rid of.

There is a small hole under the exit with a rubber washer over it that I have removed and this presented a vertically oriented M6 (from memory) bolt. I removed this expecting the baffle to fall out but it was rock solid.

Has anyone done this before and do I need to do additional steps - ie. drill out anything?

Thanks in advance.

Some photos should follow of what I assume is the original baffle from my Remus and that which you are trying to remove. Unfortunately for you, I had a motorcycle mechanic change the baffle for me so I'm going to be of limited help. My motor engineering knowledge verges on zero but I can't see that there is anything else apart from the screw holding the baffle in place. As the photos show, there is a very shallow (looks to be less than 0.5mm deep) dimple adjacent to the screw hole. The dimple may look quite freshly formed but it is not - I used a lead pencil to clean it out, so effectively coloured it in.

I had the baffle removed some years ago but I seem to recall getting the impression from the mechanic that the replacement baffle would be a pig to remove. He did reuse the securing screw but if my memory serves me, the term 'friction-fit' was also used! Maybe the original baffle is the same.

Have just seen how long ago the question was asked. Sorry JC - missed it first time round.
