Wow indeed - big project.
I have a cheeky query. Does anyone have handy or know where to get the spare parts list to repair / service the water pump? I've had no problems as yet with mine but I am planning a long trip and would like to take these as spares. I understand usual issues are the shaft and its seal, gear???, O-rings and gaskets. Many thanks

John - many thanks. I look forward to reading about your project. Cheers

This is turning into a bit of a rebuild thread ! Seriously impressive work going on there :)

So to divert back to the original thread - discovered why the bike was sitting so upright , the Wilbers shock although it has a standard spring and not a lowered spring is around 25mm shorter than the BMW Air Shock .

I'm guessing the air shock will compresses quite a bit when fitted - I'm planning to let all of the air out of the air shock and see what length it reduces to , I'll report back....

I am going to open a new thread to continue to report progress on the XC rebuild , amazing how much you can get done when your off work !

My water pump failed at 20k, if your bike has done significant mileage it might be worth replacing the pump before you go. Unfortunately it's not a 10 minute job like it is on the old F650.

This sounds like excellent advice, thank you. Perfect winter evenings activity...

I have today spoken to Hyperpro and given them the shock identification (PA5740) in order that they can confirm that this is the correct shock for the XC and that it is indeed a standard height one .

HyperPro confirmed it a 20mm lowered shock but can be set to standard height without the need for any additional parts and the work could be done as part of a shock service . Can anyone with a Hyperpro shock advise as to how much they paid for a service and who they used ?
