Hey Rossi...

Have ever looked at what different pistons might be available for the rotax? I have heard of 102mm pistons being used ... making the engine a 678 cc

Cheapest i can find at present is around £85!
That would be about right. I checked the part number on my box and it does match. The part number in brackets is the VW/Audi part number.

I know they use the engine in supermono racing so there must be options out there. 678 would be fun. Unless you change the compression, I believe that putting in a larger piston gives very similar engine characteristics, just scaled up to match the new capacity. Same linear power, just more of it :drool

Just for your guide ... Omega Pistons make a replacement 100mm piston for the rotax if you dont want to touch the cylinder. They also make a 102mm if you want to bore out and recoat the cylinder. About 130 quid including rings.

If you are not scared by the fact that my bike is at present french registed, I have a February 2008 X challenge that I have the relevant paperwork to convert to UK reg, it is just a case of insurance and mot to complete import.
Alot of goodies on the bike, looking for £3000
send me an email if you are interested, I am in Hitchin, Herts, I can give you some more info and pictures etc

[email protected]

if you email make sure that you put re: x challenge in the relevant box, otherwise I will think it is spam and delete it!

thats a more realistic price. 2750 probably fair value ... within offering distance :)

Ex Plod bikes

Hi guys

I bought one of the Chepstow plod bikes! Yes they were a bit scruffy but for sub £3K they are in very good mechanical nick! Nothing that a good jet wash and service can't sort out! Just needs a bit of plastic welding on the fairing and a set indicators and mirrors. It just been though its MOT! Mine came with a load of Touratech bits! I will be riding it for a bit then swapping/upgrading suspension/wheels/exhaust/seat for after market stuff anyway so wasn't to worried about the condition so will be putting stuff on ebay soon! Let me know what you guys would like?

If your willing to put a bit of elbow grease and are thinking of upgrading stuff later they are a good buy! The chap who is selling them is very genuine also!

I'll be at Horizons in a few weeks. But on my Transalp which is up for sale!

Cheers

Not sure if you follow the advrider forum as well but a number of chaps have gone for wheels from haan, don't know the relative prices, alternatively craig bounds had a few old sets with beat up rims not sure what new rims cost when laced to existing hubs, I know his came from talon
