My bad, that's the one I looked at. A beautiful bike with every accessory going but hardly ever ridden, why ?

Nice bike, but the value would drop like a stone once you used it. I use to know these guys. They get their hands on nice stuff, but I could never get on with their pricing. Chances are a p/x from rainbow, as he couldn't get the value in his showroom. I'd strip it and use the parts to rebuild mine when I get back. But I'd still be out of pocket. It's a 4 grand bike unless you're putting it in a collection and then it becomes a nice, none original bike that is worth 4 grand. But what do I know, I just ride them.

A little more about the X-Challenge on eBay (I am the man selling it)

Selling on behalf of a friend / customer who has several bikes. The bike has been known to me from new is gebuine low miles. It's first service was in 2013 at 600 miles!

Regarding price I see such a low mileage and rare to find standard bike at £4K

The extras....

Ohlins front and rear cost £2350

Akrapovic cost £1500

With the other bits all added up including the bash plate, seat, BMW sat nav tourctech bits (we know they all add up) there is a further £2k

So I know it looks expensive, but really it isn't.....

Also it's not been ridden as it's been owned by someone who has several road and off road bikes and likes buying parts; spending money and polishing, many of you might disagree with that but it means there is an immaculate bike for sale.

I can also vouch for this X-Challenge, I owned it for a year, it had 2 miles on it when I purchased it from a friend, it was about 6 or 7 years old and I put it away in a heated garage. It was totally standard when I was approached by a guy that wanted the ultimate over-lander, it was prised from my possession with 3 miles on the clock. This guy must have thrown his cheque book at it as no expense has been spared, it is the best specification bike you will probably ever see advertised again and with its low mileage its barely run in. I went out with the current owner last summer on some rides and I can say it performed faultlessly.
I would buy it back myself but have got my 690 just how I want it so no point really. Anyone who wants to do long distance work taking in green lanes will be hard pushed to find a bike as good.

Can you provide some further details on the Ohlins suspension upgrade as I am struggling to get to the £2350 cost ? I would guess that the rear has something like a S46HR1C1 which would cost in the region of £800 . Have the front shocks been completely swapped out from OEM to an Ohlin's custom set and if so do you have the details of what has been done ?

I am curiously interested in this bike, like xchallenges, and whilst it has had a lot of money spent on it to bring it upto this spec, it puts it towards husky 701 / ccm gp money which is a good spec 're suspension etc to start with and doesn't require much of this spend. That would be my dilemma if I were spending this amount of money.

Good luck with the sale as its a nice bike for someone who wants one. Wouldn't be surprised if it went abroad as it could be attractive given current exchange rates.

Thank you. I agree you can get other bikes for the price, but this is an individual one off and will always be rare and different.

Can you answer my previous question please ?

If you want to buy the bike and are in any doubt of the information I have provided then give me a call on 07845704153 and I will provide you with the information and invoice for £2350 from Mick Gardner Racing - Ohlins specialist. I am not in my office today so not got the exact info but its got a two way adjustable rear shock with remote reservoir, and ohlins NIX30 front cartridges with preload and rebound adjustment..... but of course you know best and its all only £800.... I love forums!!!

I didn't say it was all £800 , I said the rear Shock was in the region of £800 and was merely asking what had been done to the front to get to the £2350 total cost which you have now answered thank you

I don't think any of us are undermining the condition and spec of this bike. It sounds great, what I and I think others are questioning is the value. As a dealer the first comment that I'm sure you'd make, if I turned up with such a bike with a similar inflated value for the extras that are fitted, was that was my choice, and prospective customers won't pay the extra. I'm sure also that you'd be offering me book price or a couple of hundred above. So I think if fair that we should also question the values of bikes offered for sale.
I'm sure that there will be someone that will come along willing to store it for another 5 years and pay somewhere near the price you're asking. And by us discussing it here it's had more free exposure.
Good luck with the sale, if it's still available when I get back I may offer you a price that would give me a very nice usable bike. Alas I'm too old now to buy bikes that will be worth a fortune in 20 years.

Ta, That bike got me thinking about an idea I've had for a while, especially since the Brexit makes Sterling dead cheap for €urolanders, namely to buy bikes in UK 'to order' for Spanish customers as here second hand bikes are really expensive. If yo know of anyone who could be the UK end of the game that would be useful ...
