Xenon Headlight bulbs

just bought these as the standard ones on the GS suck in my opinion especially at night. These are the ones i bought tonight

Tell me what you think and what tips do you have on the lighting i think some auxillary lights would also be a good purchase. I cannot wait to see what difference if any these Xenon bulbs will have.

Xenon lights work in completely different way to normal bulbs, Without getting too technical for a start they don't have a filament but use a very high voltage discharge through 'Xenon' gas to produce very bright light. Hence they are sometimes referred to as burners.

What you have bought is a couple of conventional bulbs which might contain a token gesture amount of Xenon gas but unless I'm mistaken the addition of Xenon gas to a conventional bulb has no effect.

With the greatest of respect at £4.95 you get what you pay for and if nothing else you've bought yourself some spare bulbs. I've just converted my GSA to HID (Xenon) at a cost of about £320. It is without doubt the best mod I've made to the bike. They are brighter than a very bright thing!

That looks pretty good, and your right for £4.95 you are not going to get amazing results however when they come and i fit them i will post the results.

My mate (Sani) came round with his HID conversion on his 1150 GSA today.

I agree with Tunneruck......They were more bright than a very bright thing indeed.

I have never seen lights so bright and white. This was in daylight!

Granted £300 is not £4.95 but the extra £295 is worth it IMO.

Cheers Les, I would have PM'd you but I thought you were on holiday.
The kit is excellent, I probably dismantled more of the bike than I needed to but within 40 minutes of fitting the burners etc they were up and running, Fantastic! It did however take me ages to tidy up all the cables / boxes etc.
If I'm ever in your neck of the woods I may arrange to pop in and get you to look it over.

I'm astonished at how bright they are, all the on coming headlights now look like they are made of butter!

Another vote for HiD. If you do nowt else, get your dipped beam done.

You need to get in contact with Les Wassall (look him up in the members list) He might be along soon anyhow. He supplied my kit and is generally regarded as the 'all seeing eye' of HiD lights by many people.

He made my kit up and mailed it to me. I'm quite prepared to have a go at most things. However if he had been closer (550 mile round trip) I might have been tempted to get him to install them too. It takes a deep breath to take your new pride and joy to bits and start snipping wires etc.

Do it. I promise you won't regret it.

IMHO, waste of time. They look like the cosmetic blue bulbs preferred by the Max Power brigade and for the price, I can't imagine they're leading edge. Might look nice and blue and get you noticed (no bad thing) but in terms of helping you see better, possibly not.

If you don't want to go the whole hog with the HID upgrade, Philips Extreme +80% are probably the best of the bunch, although not a patch on real HIDS. Don't expect them to last more than 3 or 4 months either.

Definetly not as shit as i was led to believe. I haven't seen proper hid kit but these bulbs are better than the ones i had in.

Not had too much opportunity to use them but by all accounts they are a worthwhile upgrade but not as good as the HID
