Never mind the quality, feel the hype

So what is your actual concern to continuing using your XP computer?

Is it a business machine with client data on it?

Do you do online banking or shopping?

Do you realise that unless the above is the case you could continue to use your XP machine although you should use AV software that still plans to work with XP (Avast Free) and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free) keep them up to date and scan regularly. Then use a supported web browser that has anti-malware and anti-phising built-in (Google Chrome) and carry on as you are

No one is forcing you to abandon XP especially if there's no business involved and you have a good back-up strategy you should still be able to sleep at night.

Is this what you are suggesting. If so, I agree.

update,
well i think i understand most of what has been said. So far as photoshop is concerned ive had it apparently but every cloud has a silver lining as i,m getting a 5dmk3 canon in a few weeks and it comes with adobe lightroom so it will probably do me for a while.
anyhows ive been pointed in the direction of 'Chillblast' who build pc's for numpties like me.
I tried to do a link thing below, but it is Chillblast fusion photo OC lite which has been recommended by photo magazines and costs about £1K as it is, but i,m not sure if i should get any upgrades on it or which operating platform to use.

I moved from XP to a new Windows 8 machine along with CS5.

First I got the new machine running, then made sure all of my files were in My Documents on the old XP computer. The new machine has a partition with a C and D drive. I copied the My Documents folder and sub folders (with pics, music etc.) from the XP machine onto a USB. Then placed them on the D drive of the new machine with a link from Windows 8 Desktop. All ran OK.

Many of my files are MS Office some are quite old and we're created with Office 2003 which will not run with Windows 8. I loaded Office 2007 onto the new p.c. as this is compatible with the 2003 version as well as Windows 8, and all of my old files run no prob.

With CS5 I have the installation CD, and as my License is for 2 Users, I had to disable Photoshop on my XP device before I could complete the install on my new machine. One surprise was that Windows 8 operates in a 64 bit environment only and I wasn't sure if CS5 would load and run with the new machine, however during the installation, Photoshop loaded a 32 bit and a 64 bit version, and all seems to be fine.
