I had no takers trying to sell my 6 month old XR ended up selling to a dealer who took another 4 months before it was sold by them. The vibes on a journey was too much for me and it wasn't as comfy as the GSA. It's a shame because that motor is awesome.

Any way back on the GSA and I love it.

the XR will never replace a GS or GSA it would make a nice addition if you can afford it but replace ..i dont think so. the GS still has bags of character quirky engine, shaft, paralever, both great bikes

I have concidered going the other way from GSA to XR but although tempted I can't let go.

I've got an S1000XR courtesy bike sitting outside the house now and it's a hot sunny day, but I don't feel like riding it as it's too buzzy and it's flat at the bottom end, so not much fun on the backroads at sensible-ish speeds.

The K1300S has a much nicer engine, but I much prefer a V4, V-twin or triple with a bit of character.

Took the XR out into the Dales this afternoon with the missus and gave it a bit of a thrashing on some of the faster winding roads. It starts making sense when ridden like a sportsbike, but I don't think my licence would last very long as it's a bit all or nothing in terms of its power delivery. A bit like a super sports 600.

The handling was very precise compared to the GS though.

It'd be fun to have one to supplement a GS or RT, but I wouldn't want one as my only bike.

I sold my last GSA a few months ago, so have just been using the XR. I've been away a few times on it, and didn't think I missed the GSA. This weekend I was on my new GSA all weekend, and if you made me choose one or the other, it would be the GSA, due to the fact that it's comfortable on any road, and is more likely to get me points rather than prison if I get caught speeding!:D

I'm on my XR in Spain, it's fantastic, I'm not finding it buzzy at all, smooooth as silk and nicely loosening up now it's hit 4K miles. No tingling hands (heavier bar ends) and I did 230 miles today. It's making sense on the Spanish N roads. The handling is sports bike level, GS bars, and nudging 190 miles to a tank.

I can leave it in 6th gear most of the time and just wind it on.

Only thing it lacks is a bit of character but it's definitely grown on me, if I was two up I'm not sure the luggage or pillion comfort stacks up to a GS/GSA. It will sit ok at 70/80/90 but there is always that temptation to rev it out, and then u do get to the silly speeds.

It's a lairy fun grunty bike and appears to get plenty of admiration from other bikers if the comments I've had are anything to go by. It is also very very comfy.

Ps it has to be Red! :beerjug:

.....and Yorkshire roses :thumb2

And I'm definitely a Leeds fan, even though they're crap at the moment :(
