I believe its expected to be around the £4995 mark. i'm thinking about getting one, but i may well need some scaffolding to get on it 
Now that I'm missing my GS more than I thought I would, I can either buy an F650GS (£5495) but I don't really like the look of it in the pictures I've seen. I could buy an G650 XChallange for £5995, but I don't think I'd need an offroad bias machine. I have considered an F800GS at £6695 (without any extras) but I think I would find myself always thinking I haven't bought the 'one' I want (the R1200GS naturally)
However the price on the Tenere is now on the Yamaha website as £4899, which is nearly £600 cheaper than the 650GS... They don't currently have any accessories listed for it.

You could look for a nice second hand 650 Dakar, they're bound to be losing value now with the release of the twin800.
Or for about £3000 you could probably find a nice standard XTZ660 or the supermotard XTZ660X.........
I would guess my 2000 Dakar would only be worth £2k ish with 13000 miles on it.

I'm tempted to s-t-r-e-t-c-h myself to get something new, so that I know it's completely sound, but it would be a stretch.
I've been 'bitten' with second hand stuff before (having paid for my Brothers bike - who rang me up the day after he'd collected it to say it was a pup

My LandRover ended up with a broken chassis within 12 months after my Dad and Brother in law looked it over for me and said it was in good nick (both ex-LandRover owners).
My DAS instructor 'tried' to sell me his big traillie, which felt nice and comfy, and sounded great - but I was set on an R1200GS, by the time I called back round, he'd scrapped it!
Just as another possibility, the other instructor, who had a Cagiva Navigator, (I had a sit on it during a lunch break and found it unbelievably heavy) was unlucky enough to have had it stolen

Hi Timpo, which dealer did you go to see for the list? Being used to BMW, did you get any hint of any room to move on the pricing?
The list came from another source, and dealers now recognise part numbers, if you don't believe the pricing.
No haggling at present being done as it seems all the allocations for the first batch of sales were going better than planned.
I've plummed for Competition White, sump/bash plate, engine bars and headlight protector from the list. Taking it to about £5100.
I have one or two other bits to take of and put on.
The Tenere isn't going to the USA, and the dual sport folk over there aren't happy bunnies......
