Hello everybody

I know its not a GS but I've met a lot of nice people through this site and I hope nobody will mind my showing them the latest developments with my old friend, my Super Ten
You may remember I posted up on here about it not too long ago, saying that rather than buying a new bike I'd rather breathe new life into an old bike that I've had since 1994 and has been all through Africa and the Middle East with me.

So....,

to cut a long story short the girls at www.raidxtreme.eu (Jenna and Kymmy) have just done an amazing job wacking an TDM850 engine into it and bolting a Wr450f front end on

The story is like this

frame stripped down till it looked like this

frame04.jpg

the donor engine a TDM850 (4TX the 270 degree crank one) stripped till it looked like this

and then the rebuild began

the barrels were honed and new rings fitted

and the engine was shotblasted and repainted

enginframe2.jpg

so was the frame and then the engine was bolted back in

enginframe1.jpg

the yolks from the massive WR450F forks just needed a tiny bit of maching to make fit

and then the rear Ohlins which had already been serviced went back in along with the standard swingarm

a whole new loom was needed to cope with the different ignition requirements of the 270 degree 850 engine

and then the rebuild really powered ahead

nearly there

and to cut a very long story short, the end result is

bloody amazing

I've cut 7 weeks of amazing work down into a couple of sentences but in short the quality of workmanship at the girls is amazing

I'll post up some more details of the massive amount of work they did (a lot of it not charged I have to say) but I have had the bike back for 2 days and from the off it has run perfectly, - carburation, suspension, balance, stability, everything

They have done an awesome job

Hope I can wield it at the Cambrian, and if LouisDut is reading, I think its time you showed me round the lanes you know so well

I fell in love with that bike when you last posted it - glad you're keeping it going and I bet it's great now it's got a new heart :thumb2

I did look into them building me a bike, but they didn't have any "donor" machines in at the time, and Jenna was in the middle of a project. Then the 640 came up so bought that. Yours looks the business though. :thumb2

Cracking bike Rich.
Where are they based?(contact details etc?)
Do they specialise in off-road
Richard
Thanks for the kind words everybody - all I did was provide the inspiration.

Raidxtreme are based in Luton (ish) and work in both the 2 wheel and 4 wheel forms of motorsport and have done a lot of work in the Rallye scene in Africa and the WRC where Jenna was a mechanic to one of the Ford Focus drivers
But both the girls (Kymmy does the electrics and IT and stuff like that) have a passion for rallye raid motorbikes and I was really lucky to be able to hook up with them

Have at look at xtz850.com - although that website is under construction, there is a contact email

They are a small but perfectly formed team at the moment but they are so good they should take over the world - start to finish took them 7 weeks and was under budget !!

MMMM I wonder if Snoopy has read this thread:rolleyes:
how to prepare a bike THOROUGHLY for hard and extreme conditions :augie:augie

looks fantastic :thumb2

Got your mail and have sent message more than well come to come out would be great to see it in action :bow

ps DRZ going well thank you

That looks really smart!!

Should put a huge grin on your face when you hit the fire breaks during a special test!!!

Looking good there. Had one of these years ago. It wasn't good to me after frying it's electrics and boiling the battery dry one day!!! I let he go after sorting that lot but still like the look of them. Proper Dakar like.

AWSOME MIN. Great to see an old :friend: done up for the future, more unique than just buying the latest and greatest, well done , even if it was a bit sore on the wallet!.:thumb2
